Hello helpers Ė Iím a 48 year old man looking for help with painting and general work in and around the house. Itís an old farmhouse which Iíve renovated (itís now warm and comfortable) but Iím busy in a design office and it is hard to find the time to finish off painting windows, doors and stairs. If you are skilled at working with traditional lime plaster, some walls still need repair, so that would be a great bonus. Thereís plenty to do outside too if: repairs to potholes in the lane, clearing old slates from an outbuilding, taking ivy off walls, and excavating planting beds around the house etc. So there is a range of tasks to suit your interests, ability and the weather!
My home is in the countryside, about 3km from the village of Ferbane in the middle of Ireland. It is a quiet and relatively undiscovered part of the country with great local charm: Iím beside the river Brosna, and close to interesting places like Clonmacnoise monastery, Lough Boora Sculpture Park, Belmont Mil... more inside

My cottage, gets its name as we are situated in the midwest of Ireland in the bog. We enjoy a sunset over the huge bog view every evening often by a bonfire. We are a family of 4. We enjoy the simpler things in life, we recycle and up-cycle as much as we can. We love creating things from other peoples trow away. We have a organic veg garden & flower garden & chickens, ducks, 1 horse who is trained to pull a beautiful painted barrel-top wagon. We have 1 dog & 1 fat cat. We are planing a fence around land & planting trees, in late summer we turn turf. volunteers will be taking part in all daily domestic life and chores. As we are only starting our small farm we all live in mobile homes (we have all mod cons including shower & dish washer etc) and we hope to build a barn & earth-ship in the future. We are renovating a cottage and we are building a glass bottle dome. We work hard & play hard & enjoy a drink or 2. Anyone who comes here will have a warm caravan with a turf burning stove. ... more inside

We have a large home in Wicklow with a fully furnished basement with separate living room. 3 bedrooms and a bath room. The house needs the garden landscaping and some walls to be built. We have two children 12 and 15 and my wife runs her own business while i work full time in Bray. I am well traveled and a gregarious hospitable person who needs manpower to get the house finished out side. Ideally looking for happy easy going hard working fun loving folks who want to spend some time with us in Wicklow on 1 hour from Dublin.

Two possible sites. One is in Whitehead (20 miles NE of Belfast), the other is located in Islandmagee, 10 miles North of Whitehead.
The Whitehead property is an old (1700s) stone terrace house overlooking the sea which I have been renovating. There are still lots of DIY type jobs to be done. Whitehead is a quiet seaside town with coastal walks, 2 golf courses, a yacht club and is the centre for the (steam) Railway Preservation Society of Ireland.
It has good rail & bus services and is a good base for visiting the famous Antrim Coast Road.
Islandmagee os more rural. The property is an old pre-fab which I would like to clad in straw-bales. I need help with site ground-works. It is beside a popular beach known as Browns Bay.

Small holding with vegetable growing.
Simple living with Compost Loo and outside water supply.
Very quiet surroundings on the edge of the turf bog.
There are various activities here, which though not heavy, they do need to be done: eg Piling up turf into orderly heap; dealing with firewood: chopping and sawing; many jobs in and around the garden, cutting grass; tending the property.
There is also a certain amount of maintenance involving simple and creative carpentry skills.
Bicycles are the only means of transport: and walking ofcourse.
Help with any of the above activities is greatly appreciated: good vegetarian food is what I can provide in appreciation of Help given. In Gratitude for your interest.
It is suitable for 1 week stays.

We are a family of five, two adults and three teenagers. We live in west cork, a wonderful scenic and vibrant place to visit. We have a working family farm. Some help on the farm would be good but at the moment I mainly need someone to do some painting and other household stuff. I feel a couple or two friends would be best as you would probably benefit more by having one another to explore the area with. The summer is a really good time to visit Ireland. Look fwd to hearing from you. Will attach some photos soon!
