HELLO.

SORRY, BUT I'M FULL FOR THE MOMENT.

I am an ex-helper, now homeowner and would like to host a few people while I'm doing up my new home in Bristol. Most of the construction work is now done, and the place is habitable but its a case of making it nice, with a bit of light DIY, decorating and gardening. I'm doing it myself and with mates, but would appreciate the help if someone sociable would like to spend a bit of time in Bristol. I have one spare room [big enough to accomodate 2 or a couple], and a functioning kitchen and bathroom.

I've a good set of friends in Bristol that you'd be welcome to be part of for your stay. I work at the BBC in town and do work away a few days a month so depending on the timing, you might end up with the place to yourself for a night here or there. Most of the time, its just me [sometimes my girlfriend] and the visiting mate.

I look forward to hearing from you. Cheers,

James

We are a couple converting a victorian walled garden into a home/garden. We have built a small straw bale cabin to live in and are working on landscaping and gardening (including food growing) tasks in preparation to build a wood frame, straw bale building in the future.

We have two clean, comfortable caravans for helpers to stay in.

Work includes vegetable and flower gardening, building garden structures, moving earth, clearing ground and dismantling derelict structures, laying new paths, and we also do artsy stuff like mosaics and sculpture, building furniture out of reclaimed wood, etc.

Please see our blog via our website link for more detailed information on our project.

Field maintenance (getting rid of docks and mucking out regularly). Possibility for light weight and experienced rider who has worked with young horses to help school a youngster. We eat meals together, do not watch TV and are car dependant, although one could walk to the nearest town, Stroud, in 45 minutes.

PROJECT NOW FINISHED, BUT GETTING INVOLVED IN OTHER ECO BUILDING PROJECTS IN THE FUTURE SO DO GET IN TOUCH IF YOU ARE INTERESTED AND I MAY BE ABLE TO HELP. So please do get in contact if you are interested.

An interesting opportunity to volunteer on a eco building project being carried out in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside. The building is mostly going to be built using straw bales, with an environmental approach along every step. Looking for enthusiastic workers, who want to further there knowledge and practical building skills.
The building is on an organic farm, so there may be some other more varied jobs available (in the garden or on the farm), but the main focus of the work will be on the building.
In exchange for 5 hours work a day, for 5 days a week, delicious home cooked food and somewhere to sleep will be offered.

The farm is located near Stonehenge, Salisbury, the south coast and other beautiful attractions. So their are plenty of opportunities for things ... more inside

My place is a mooring on which I have two narrowboats with a big garden. It is within easy reach of Leicester but based in a country park so plenty of wildlife and open spaces to exlore on the doorstep. I have a variety of smaller boats like dingies and kayaks which can be used and am a keen cyclist. The leicestershire countryside is fantastic for cycling. I can show you round by bike if requested.

I have cabins on the land for accomodation and often have bonfires and cook outside. The place is offgrid apart from water and I do have broadband on a landline. I am into being sustainable and use composting toilets, I am vegetarian but do eat fish.

I am an experienced helpx volunteer and I expect 25 hours a week and welcome mature people of all ages who are prepared to get stuck in and work using their initiative. The jobs might include gardening, painting, firewood preparation, cooking, helping to build staging etc. I'd particularly like someone who can do plumbing or electrics ... more inside

We have a large 100 year-old family home in 1.7 acres which we share with lodgers, small dog and cat and Mother-in-Law. There is an orchard, polytunnel, veggy garden and several run-down outbuildings and projects! We are keen on making and doing whatever we can for ourselves. Nigel is an active skip-watcher and scavenger, so much firewood and building material ends up in landfill it makes us sad! We have solar panels for electricity and hot water and a small off grid power station which runs on waste veg oil when I can get any..... This summer (2013) we would really like to make it a priority to rebuild our ancient, but lovely, brick and timber greenhouse so folks with good carpentry or building skills would be useful. There will be plenty to keep non-building types busy too, ... Big hedge to trim, maintenance of veg garden, weeding (sorry!), painting of ramshackle sheds, fruit to pick and wine to be made! There is loads of outdoor living space here and accommodation would be in th... more inside
