We are a family with three young children that is in the process of establishing an organic mixed farm on land directly opposite Slane Castle. The castle and its lands has been in our family since 1703 and is world renowned for it's annual outdoor rock concerts which feature Bon Jovi and Eminem in 2013.

We are now looking to build a series of buildings out straw bales and timber with the straw that comes from the barley fields on the farm. This includes our new farmhouse, an office and the 'Limehouse' which is a communal building that will serve our luxury eco-camp on the farm that includes canvas yurts. We also have a working farm which includes rare breed cattle, pigs, chickens, dogs and veggies.

The main focus on the farm at the moment is building the straw bale buildings where you will get the chance to learn how to build with this amazing natural material. I am situated in Connemara about 30 miles West of Galway at the head of Kilkieren Bay. The area is very beautiful and surrounded by lakes and mountains. The sea is about 10 minutes walk away and there are beautiful beaches within 5 miles. It can be very wet and windy but wonderful too in fine weather. I only have about 1/2 acre of land but my object is self sufficency. I have a large vegetable garden that is still being developed. I am also a beekeeper with currently five hives. There are young fruit trees not bearing yet. The next project is to keep ducks. I have a wind turbine and solar cells, mostly home made and installed which produces enough electricity to light a workshop and office. There is also solar water heating. As I am retired from the corporate world but very fit and healthy there is always a great deal to do with various projects on the go most days. I am also a woodworker and wood turner, making my own beehives and some for sale. In the summer I sell wooden ite... more inside

I am looking for people who wish to have free accommodation in Ireland this summer or longer in a wooden chalet house in exchange for work done on the place. There is basic gardening, painting, woodwork, and general maintenance, the house is in the beautiful scenery with nice alternative people around artists, musicians, basket makers etc. I would not live there or provide food but come and help and provide materials.
The coast is half an hour away in west cork so very beautiful. This could be short or long term and would suit a group of friends, couples or single person.

60-bed hostel in Belfast and 25-bed hostel at the Giant's Causeway looking for volunteer workers year round to help in my hostels.

The hostels are run by volunteers mostly. If you want free accommodation and have time for a part time job. How it works is that you are required to work 3 hours a day helping with the cleaning and 1 long 12 hour night shift or reception shift(and then have the next day off). So, plenty time off if you wanted a part time job!

It's a fun hostel to work in and party skills or pub crawls are a bonus.

We take up to 6 volunteers at a time. And have 3 spots IMMEDIATELY available

We only organize volunteers 3 weeks in advance so take down our email and contact us 3 weeks before you plan on arriving.
We are also starting up walking tours and pub crawls and this could be a bit extra money for outgoing people that can do tours.

No experience needed. But hard working, hard partying people preferred.

Regards,
William
