Companion Ad:
Always keen to meet people, but I've always travelled alone - marching to the beat of my own drum. If you're interested in changing that, by all means get in touch.

Next Destination(s):
Back in the UK now and intend to be for the foreseeable future. Open to new places in the South but not really looking right now.

Helper Description:
I've been in New Zealand for a couple of months now, and prefer a rural/rustic/'alternative' lifestyle over city life any day! In February 2013 I hopped over from Australia after spending 21 months there, travelling, getting stuck, travelling again. I grew up in Scotland and moved to Wales after I left High School; before Australia I had always lived in 'the middle of nowhere'. When helping I prefer to fit in to family life, chores and household/farmhold necessities, I love children as well as animals (so far I've encountered various pets, horses, goats, cows, chooks, geese, ducks, guinea pigs, spotted pigs, free range children) and have no issues with getting my hands dirty doing what needs to be done. While living in Sydney I worked in a Vietnamese/South American fusion restaurant, nurturing an enthusiasm for food and nutrition. I love to get creative in the kitchen and exchange ideas – or simply feed the family, it's all good. I have basic tractor and quadbike skills, I'm also able to reverse a vehicle with a trailer. I carry a UK driving license, and have been told I'm a considerate and safe driver. I love working with wood, from tree planting to tree felling. I'm confident with a chainsaw and other tools whether it's simple joinery/carpentry or this winter's firewood you need. Growing up in Scotland I became a qualified RYA junior instructor, sailing was my favourite activity in my childhood but unfortunately I haven't been back on the water since. I keep myself as clean and tidy as is practical and maintain a respect for people, their possessions and their lifestyles. I eat an omnivorous diet which favours locally produced/organic foods, but I'm flexible to any diet and accustomed to living with vegetarians. I'm a music lover, and although I can't always carry a guitar with me, I love to teach, learn and jam. My mother tongue is English, but I learned Scots Gaelic, French and Spanish at school.
