Next Destination(s):
I will be traveling to China, Japan, Ireland, and Peru between June 2012 and October 2012. If possible, I will also be in Turkey, Indonesia, Thailand, and perhaps other countries.

My name is Doug Olson, I was born and raised in Minnesota, not far from the Canadian border. Recently, I turned 52 years of age, and am hoping to spend most of the next few years exploring areas of the world thus far unfamiliar to me.
I am a writer/songwriter/performer at heart, but of necessity have become fairly skilled in many areas, including auto mechanics, carpentry, operating and maintaining chainsaws, and I have two certifications in computer hardware and networking. I'm pretty handy at fixing almost anything, as long as it is fixable. I love to learn new things, and am deeply interested in sustainable and accountable lifestyles.
I like to work hard, and I love to meet people from all cultures. Storytelling is something I enjoy both hearing and doing. It is likely I will return to China, and possibly other countries, to teach English while I also learn more languages myself.
When traveling around the world, if I land in one particular place and find good friendships developing there, I may feel motivated to stay at length.
I am glad to answer any questions a host may feel driven to ask me. I expect the same from them.
