We have one spare seat on our 4WD Landcruiser 80. We are looking for a travel mate to join us for the whole trip or part of it, from Airlie Beach to Darwin through Cairns and the north East coast and the outback. It is not a lift-trip, we are travelling, taking it easy. Ideal for traveler wanting to have a look at the countryside and see some remote places, have fun on some adventurous 4WD tracks, camp with the car on beaches...
Sharing costs and fuel.
On the road: leaving from Airlie Beach to Townsville for a stop at Magnetic Island to see some koalas and do some snorkeling, then Atherton tableland and Tinaroo lake area for the beautiful landscape before Cairns, Daintree National Park and where the rainforest meet the beaches (cape tribulation), of course the Great Barrier Reef around Port Douglas, a bit of adventure with 3 days on a 4WD track across outback to see dinosaur fossils and in the road to Darwin, a stop a Mount Isa to maybe catch a rodeo show. Then Kakadu National park could be optional before reaching Darwin.
About the car: a real 4WD fully equipped with recovery gear, roof top tent for us and a spare bed in the car if we're sleeping in croc country (we also have a Kmart shit tent if you don't have one). Small fridge, water tank, awning. And few room left for your luggage (one large backpack would be good).
We'll be leaving Airlie on Friday 30th.
Contact us if you want to jump in for a part or the whole trip!! We can pick up and drop off on the road.
We come from France with the idea of travelling around the world as much as possible before life is calling us back home. Thatís why after several trips in Europe and a big road trip across Canada and USA my partner and I decided to take a gap year in our career to discover Australia.
Here we are, travelling together around this country on a 4WD Landcruiser, wishing to make the big tour : following the east cost to the most isolated places of western australia and reaching the south coast after a trip through the simpson desert as well.
Part of this big project is to overcome ourselves by living in a different way and learning new skills. That's how we came to be helpers all around this big country.
Few of our top wishing dreams for this year are working in a dairy farm and in a cattle station, learn sailing and live in a boat for a few weeks and discover mining experience by staying in an isolated mine settlement. Of course, as we are in Australie we also wish to see as many wild animals as possible, including koalas, whales, crocodiles, turtles...
As this schedule is not enough busy for our thirsty minds we have also a few writings and photographic projects to elaborate.
To tell you a bit more about us, back in France we are both camera assistants, working in cinema crews on set with 5 years experience. That means we are used to team work and large shifts. We are also known as fast learners because it is an essential way of keeping our job in this field.
Photography is part of our job, so during our stay we can help you take better pictures or offer you good quality pics of work, property, animals, ...
We haven't made a lot of HelpX yet but we have experience in a dairy farm, milking, driving tractors and spraying pesticides. We love cooking and would be happy to cook for you.
Hope this will encourage you to meet us!
