Then cycling from London to Bordeaux in MArch 2017
Cycling around Northern Spain in May/June 2017
Then to India later on
Currently in Algarve, with general aim of India by bike
My name is Joe, from London, 37.
I am bike touring around Europe in the general direction of India, but have decided to stay in the Algarve for the winter and set off again in February.
I've volunteered for over 3 months this year, almost all of it has been kitchen and refugee focussed and I am really keen to get my hands dirty and learn some practical skills around permaculture, building, general gardening, animals.
However, I am open to all ways of helping others.
eg - a lot of manual labour, erecting structures, clearing, gardening, driving and helping with businesses..
I'm keen to work and meet people and share life's experiences... as well as just go with the flow with the least amount of rudder ;)
If you want to know a bit more about me...
I try to meditate and practice yoga as frequently as possible, and I would like to incorporate as much hands on work (karma yoga) as possible this year.
I have a chemistry degree from a good UK uni and 10 years working with all sorts of people (teachers) during a successful career in London as a recruiter.
Jan 2017: Electrical Foundation 2 Day Intro Course (completed)
Dec 2016: Built own solar charger and 1 day workshop on off grid tech.
CAT centre :March 2017 (Compost toilets, Reed beds booked)
I am learning the guitar ( I will have one in the UK) writing songs and singing ( not many), love all music, kirtan, politics, comedy, sports, games, drawing, plants , trees, flowers, jokes, dancing a bit. I am also a flexitarian: a diet that is in flux between vegan, veggie and a little meat, but always aspiring to be mindful! I always fit in with others. I do not smoke but I have done in the past. I tend to go with the flow regards alcohol too.
I took a few months off in 2015 and did my my first volunteer work in a long time then, working on an organic hops farm in Oregon and a fledgling but incredible Tibetan Buddhist retreat in Northern California, a community garden in NZ. I also walked the Camino, and learned Tai Chi for a month in this time off, before going back to work.
