Our names are John, Siriluck and Tom our 5 year old son.
We are trying to create a wonderful environment in which to live.
Our first priority is to build our family home and we're looking for help to build it. The house is well advanced now and we will be doing the internal rendering from 20 July.No special building knowledge needed. (don't worry, I'll be on site and the buck stops with me).
Sometimes there is some work to be done in the wood.
We provide a caravan for accommodation and good food. You will also be sharing our Yurt with us, especially at meal times. We ask 5 hours a day for 5 days every week.
The house, to our knowledge, is the first Cob build in the South of France. It's actually a hybrid with load bearing Straw Bales on the North wall. 50 cm thick cob walls, bioclimatic greenhouse, lime/acacia foundations, natural stone plinth, lime and earth renders, rocket stove, self-build solar panels.
At the time of writing we are busy Cobbing (earth building) and s... more inside

Anyone out there heading for South West France in September? We are an English family living in France on a beautiful 30 acre domain of woodland, pasture and wild flower meadows about half an hour South of Carcassonne and just 5 minutes from the bustling medieval market town of Mirepoix.

We've found our helpers for May, June, July and August but we are still looking for two very special girls (friends or a couple) who fancy spending September in a stunning location in the South of France, to help us with the last few weeks of our 2015 summer season at Montengrand. You’ll need to be fairly practical, socially skilled, with a great sense of humour and be comfortable interacting with children of all ages and orgainising some fun activities. Previous experience working with young children would be a real bonus. We can offer you some wonderful, self - contained accommodation with views to die for plus all your weekly groceries / meals taken care of. In return we would ask both of you... more inside

Do you want to travel, meet people and gain some new skills? ..... come and join us if you do.

The team currently comprises Carl, James, Beatriz, Dylan (chocolate lab), Jazz (demented working cocker spaniel).

There are 5 C17th stone cottages, 5 stone barns, a ruined cottage, a heated swimming pool plus 30 acres of woodland, lawns, meadow and a steam: all set in the beautiful rolling Morbihan countryside just 25 miles from the stunning southern Brittany coastline.

The aim this Summer is to complete a wooden barn from recycled timber; commission a mobile home; continue to bring the woodland back into active management utilising low impact silvicultural systems; cut, split, move and stack firewood from our own sustainably managed woodlands; complete the sympathetic renovation of a beautiful C17th stone cottage; maintain the grounds and swimming pool, domestic cleaning and cooking; clear overgrown woodland tracks and derelict fields - we're looking to add pigs to the ever growi... more inside

Bonjour,

Our family of 3 lives on this tiny half-professional animal farm : 1 cow, 2 donkeys, hens, garden, fields and a few crops. We slowly change the farm following permaculture principles. Here one can learn simple self sufficiency skills : cooking, preserves, cheese, bread, soap, gardening or simple clay building... Family vibes. Animals and seasons dictate their rythm, the menus and activities. 2015's goal is to build a clay igloo. French and english spoken.
We prefer to host helpers for a minimum of 2 weeks. Long term stays are possible too.
