This is an olive farm set in 10 acres of land near Ll'ampolla and the Delta'Ebre area of Northern Spain. Our olive grove is situated in the hills with some fantastic scenery and history. It is only a 15 minute drive to the next town, where there are plenty of bars, restaurants and some beautiful beaches. We are less than 1.5 hours from Barcelona and Valencia.
The house itself is fully self sufficient and we take advantage of solar power for electricity and rainwater harvesting for all our water use. It is a very comfortable home with all modern conveniences despite our minimal environmental impact.
We are a retired English couple with a friendly Jack Russell terrier . Volunteers are most welcome to help us prune olive and almond trees, repair stone terraces, lay paths, work on small garden areas, work on general maintenance and surrounding areas. Volunteers with some experience in building or construction are very welcome. In return, comfortable board and lodging is provided. Hour... more inside

CASTELLANO ABAJO

Mas Els Gorgs is a Laboratory for Experimental Living in the Alta Garrotxa Natural Park. We´re an international group of people living in an old cement quarry. Our doing springs naturally from the core of our authentic being and expresses rather than seeks openness and love. For us it is all about being experimental, gardening, building, maintaining, developing, playing local, thinking glocal.
Our Laboratory does not emphasize the old paradigm of keeping things going like before for sake of tradition or lack of a broader perspective. It is a space that has its particulars. At best the result of our experiments are a strong collective vision that people are willing and able to commit to, out of profound conviction and recognition of divine brother and sisterhood. Yet it happens here without mentioning or classifying it. In it's most modest expression it provides us with lessons in life, for no experiment is without learning.
The aim is to further establish Els G... more inside

Our house (in a fairly unspoilt part of the Costa Brava, 4 kms inland)is similar to a terraced house in the UK. It needs quite a lot of maintenance, which means help is often necessary.Since joining Helpx in 2011,my husband,Alfonso, who was already mobility challenged due to a motor-bike accident in 1970,had a fall and broke his femur. He spent 4 months in hospital during which time we were very grateful to all the helpxers who did some really good jobs painting, decorating, cooking etc. and gave us both the moral strength to get through this difficult period.Alfonso is gradually improving but has many challenges in his daily life and cannot go out a lot or travel easily, so we have seen that helpers are still necessary for a variety of reasons:company, conversation etc. Therefore, practically no hard physical work is required but there's always something to do in the house and especially the garden (it may not amount to more than 3 hours a day) plus we really enjoy meeting new peopl... more inside

Help needed over the Christmas period

Bagend is a 12,000sq meter old lemon farm in the Sierra Espuna mountains .

We're in the foot hills of the Sierra Espuna mountains in a secluded valley. We have a small car and the town of Totana is 15 minutes away. Totana has all local amenities including railway station. Nearer is Aledo, a small hill top village, with Moorish tower.

It is beautiful here. No light or air pollution and extremely peaceful. We have our own water supply, installed solar power and bio waste system. We are totally self sufficient in power.

We run yoga retreats and many types of alternative self sufficiency works shops( see you tub video )

We need help with our next yoga retreat and general work round the farm ( which by the way is called Bagend)
Tasks would involve:
Help in cooking, pool cleaning, general duties around the farm, going to market maintenance of solar system etc.

We would love to hear from you if you are enthusiastic, physica... more inside
