Hello,
we are a Canadian-German family. My husband and I live with our daughters and baby son (5 & 2 years old and a newborn) in the beautiful Peace Region, minutes from the town of Fort St. John.
We have two horses (Haflinger & Icelandic), a dog and a cat. We are looking for a person (preferable female) who is willing to help with some chores around the house, garden, yard as well as some childminding and exercising the horses. Experience with horses would be great.
Leisure activities to do around here are river boating, ATV, hiking, swimming, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, camping and lots of wildlife viewing (bear, moose, deer, coyotes...). Fort St. John also has a cinema, some shopping, walking trails and a museum.
If this sounds interesting to you, don't hesitate to send me a message.

We have transferred our idea of a petite auberge into mid-nowhere British Columbia. We have a B&B, have cooking classes, host lots of fine dining but also grow some of our food and process a lot of local offerings into products. We are looking for assistance mostly in keeping up with garden tasks (both food and landscape) but you can be called to assist in preparing the B&B room, cooking, serving and processing/canning.

Most of the season is already promised to other interns but we are still looking for someone for April to assist us in spring cleanup and early planting. Mid-August to mid-October is also open.

We are a large working cattle ranch in the beautiful Chilcotin region of BC where we raise cattle and horses, as well as a small flock of sheep. We run 1000 mother cows, 150 replacement heifers, 60 Bulls, a herd of 15-20 horses and we currently have 3000 acres in forage production. We do all of our cattle work on horseback the old fashioned way. We are a progressive young couple that own the ranch (34 & 42) and we also have other full time employees year round from cowboys to haying crew, contractors etc. We are not certified organic but we do NOT use chemicals, pesticides or implant our animals with hormones. However, we do have a full herd health program that includes vaccinating our animals from disease and we use antibiotics when necessary. Our ranch is located close to the mountains with a river flowing through the whole property and many lakes nearby. The wildlife in this part of BC is incredible with common sightings of bears, moose, deer, wolves and coyotes. There is always... more inside

We are a family of 4 and live on a small Hobby Farm with some goats, chickens, a dog and a cat. Sandra and Marc were born in Germany, Torben (15) and Ellena (18) were born in Canada, though we speak mostly German at home, unless we have visitors (or helpers) staying with us.

We'll need help in the spring (April/May) for about 4 to 5 weeks to care for the animals, help in the house and the small garden. On average there will be about 2 hours (max.) of work a day (lots of time to either find off-farm work or to explore the many outdoor opportunities - http://www.hellobc.com/smithers.aspx). We offer clean accommodation and some meals.

You must be willing to stay for at least 4 weeks, be honest, reliable and independent; non-smokers only and absolutely no drug use! Our place is about 10 km out of town, so you should have a drivers licence (or really like biking).
