Commercial organic vegetable farm. Beautiful location under Hudson Bay mountain and only 3 Km from the vibrant town, Smithers BC.

We are young farmers who believe that the food we eat should come from where we live. Only a year old we have found that the local food market has lots of room to grow and are fast growing to produce as much as possible.

Come see how the magic starts, experience first hand the joys of planting potatoes and onions, the euphoric bliss of a kale forest, and the satisfaction that only rows upon rows of spinach and lettuce can bring. Weeding and mulching and watering, hothouse vine tying and, weekly harvest and processing/packaging, building and farm maintenance, Firewood collection.

Lots of farming experiments and ongoing project always needing new sets of eyes and imaginations.

Organic Status: Not certified, but practice organic principles

Our property is about 75 km North East of Williams Lake (we can pick up helpers at the bus station in Williams Lake). The property is currently being developed for small scale organic market gardening (uncertified but we follow organic methods & principles). We plan to sell veggies, and fruit from our orchard. We are preparing to move out to the property full time, but currently just have two small cabins out there which are used primarily during the summer. We have a large veggie garden, fruit trees and berries, and horses. The property is on a lake, in a beautiful valley which supports an abundance of wildlife. Our lake is in the middle of a chain of 8 lakes, all of which are accessible by canoe. In your time off you can explore the valley, by hiking, biking, canoeing or kayaking. Other things you can do include swimming, fishing and windsurfing. Our helpers typically stay in tents (with a bed) as our cabins are both very small. All of our guests have enjoyed sleeping out in the t... more inside

We are Monika and Fred and are developing an organic farm/tourist destination in the wilderness of the West Chilcotin Mountains. Two dogs, a cat and 2 horses are enjoying life with us. The farm is very isolated in a small valley and borders the large Tweedsmuir Provincial Park. We are non-smokers in our early sixties. We are developing 5 acres for organic seed potato and vegetable production and have built a greenhouse into the mountain side for vegetables requiring more heat. One log cabin and a sauna are already finished, a second log cabin is under construction.

We like to share our life in the wilderness with people who are interested in an experience of living in and with nature and yet enjoy some of nowadays comforts. The opportunities for work experience and wilderness adventure are endless.

Spring, summer and fall projects include general farm work, building log fences and log cabins (incl. cutting down trees and milling them on our Alaska saw mill), cutting f... more inside
