Hello,
we are a small Canadian-German family. My husband and I live with our daughter (toddler) in the beautiful Peace Region, minutes from the town of Fort St. John.
We have two horses (Haflinger & Icelandic), a dog and a cat. We are looking for a person (preferable female) who is willing to help with some chores around the house, garden, yard as well as some childminding and exercising the horses. Experience with horses would be great.
Leisure activities to do around here are river boating, ATV, hiking, swimming, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, camping and lots of wildlife viewing (bear, moose, deer, coyotes...). Fort St. John also has a cinema, some shopping, walking trails and a museum.
If this sounds interesting to you, don't hesitate to send me a message.

***Currently looking for 1-2 volunteers to start end of May/beginning of June to help with gardening, painting, fencing, farm type work and of course animal care :) *** Work with siberian huskies, some farm animals and grow a garden on a small farm in Northern BC. We moved to the acreage in May 2012 and had and amazing winter with our husky family! Located on the lake in Prince George B.C. we have 22 happy sled dogs. Our dogs are part of the family and are not viewed as just work animals, they are our loved pets :) They sleep in our beds, they beg at the kitchen table and they snuggle on the couch. The care of the dogs is my number one priority. They love attention and are happy to have visitors and time to play. I have met some amazing people through volunteers and have made some life long friends. I want volunteers to make themselves at home and enjoy getting to know them. Organic Status: non certified organic, biodynamic

We are a couple in our 40s living on a self-sustainable homestead in the Central Cariboo.
Our farm is in a semi-remote little peaceful and quiet valley with lots of wildlife and especially birds on the marsh along the creek. Our electricity is a grid-tie system with hydro and solar panels.

The food we eat is 90% self produced. We have a herd of Dexter cattle and milk one or two of the cows when we need milk, every year we do meat chickens (don't worry, we don't butcher them ourselves), and we preserve most of our food for the winter. We also have four dogs and three horses and the animals are a big part of our lives, if you are a confident rider, we could go for rides, too, but since they are arabian horses you will have to be able to handle a spirited horse out on the trails.

We consider ourselves to be down to earth, creative people and are looking for conscientious, flexible people who can handle a remote setting in the wilderness. We only go to town every 1-2 weeks.

Organic Status: Not certified, but practice organic principles

Our property is about 75 km North East of Williams Lake (we can pick up helpers at the bus station in Williams Lake). The property is currently being developed for small scale organic market gardening (uncertified but we follow organic methods & principles). We plan to sell veggies, and fruit from our orchard. We are preparing to move out to the property full time, but currently just have two small cabins out there which are used primarily during the summer. We have a large veggie garden, fruit trees and berries, and horses. The property is on a lake, in a beautiful valley which supports an abundance of wildlife. Our lake is in the middle of a chain of 8 lakes, all of which are accessible by canoe. In your time off you can explore the valley, by hiking, biking, canoeing or kayaking. Other things you can do include swimming, fishing and windsurfing. Our helpers typically stay in tents (with a bed) as our cabins are both very small. All of our guests have enjoyed sleeping out in the t... more inside

I own and operate a Guide Outfitting business. I would like to have help building several projects from mid April until late October. I would welcome helpers to come for the whole time or whatever time they have available. I am located at Ft. Grahame B.C. Ft. Grahame is on the Davis Bay of Williston Lake which is the largest lake in B.C. I have a small sawmill which we use to saw all our own dimensional lumber. We also use the sawmill to saw logs we use for building. We have several buildings to build this summer using the dovetail method. For anyone who is interested in learning how to build log cabins and operate a small sawmill this is a great opportunity. We will also be logging out some logs starting about April 1. I also have 26 head of horses and will be purchasing another 3-8 this spring. They are saddle and pack animals. This is a great opportunity for someone who would like to learn how pack horses in the mountains. There are unlimited opportunities to ride, getting the ho... more inside
