Off-grid (Solar) wilderness setting beside Ross Lake Provincial Park and overlooking Bulkley River, surrounded by three mountain ranges. We raise llamas, chickens and ducks, have three dogs and a cat. Help with gardening, firewood, animal care, harvesting of wild herbs and plants, light housework, and trail maintenance will be very much appreciated. We have a young perennial garden (forest garden) already overflowing with berries and fruit trees as well as a vegetable garden. A small greenhouse supports cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes. Rainwater is collected for garden watering, drinking water comes from a well. We also run a small campground and have guest lodging. Wild plants for food and medicine are regularly collected and we host Herbal Camps to teach others how to do this. Archery is also one of our hobbies and we have a small target range and an annual tournament. Lots of great trails for hiking, biking, swimming, and wildlife viewing. Come check us out, you will love it!

We operate a small ranch situated in the Cariboo region of BC. Our extended family is nearby and family events and kids keep everyone involved.
We raise grassfed/finished beef on managed pastures using organic methods.(as yet uncertified). We also raise chickens and pigs for family use and maintain a large vegetable garden to produce healthy food for the family and some for market. This summer we are building a new greenhouse.
Helpers would assist with the vegetable garden, barnyard chores, and cattle tending. We move the cattle to new electrically fenced enclosures daily. We also appreciate helpers who contribute something of their own interest.eg. cooking, child care, carpentry.
Our lakeside log home offers comfortable rooms, laundry, internet use, and a piano. We offer room and board in exhange for farm help.
This is great location for an outdoor enthusiast as our semi wilderness location offers canoeing, swimming, and hiking opportunities right from our house. Volunteer... more inside

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working with horses, who would enjoy taking care of a variety of other small farm animals. Carpentry experience is also an asset, as there are many fix-it projects around the place to work on.

We are located in a largely forested area with some nice open fields and great trail riding areas just ten minutes out of town of Smithers. Helpers are welcome all year round: We have horses, ponies, sheep, goats, llamas, rabbits and chickens that need to be fed and watered every day. Catching, brushing and saddling up horses for the trail rides is your mission as well as handling young horses to get them used to people.

If you are already a horse person, that's great, if not we will help you at the beginning until you become confident around them. We have taught many people how to ride here.

Things can be very busy here especially during the summertime, there are special events coming up where we set up a petting zoo do pony rides f... more inside

Cattle Ranch
We run a 500 Head Cattle ranch in the Cariboo area.
Depending on the season, there are many jobs we could use help with on the place. Throughout the year we feed cattle, brand, irrigate, put up hay,do general maintenance on fences, equipment, buildings, work cattle, and occasionally...relax!
You would have the opportunity to spend time in the great natural environment, and the likelihood of seeing wild animals is great. There is a variety of jobs, and what you end up doing will depend on your willingness, experience, and the season.
The Cariboo is a beautiful place and we encourage any visitors to take in some of the area while they're here.

Come and join us in the beautiful Bulkey Valley! Our farm is situated 20 min outside Smithers. I am having shoulder surgery in June and really need 1 or 2 people to help out!
We grow a large organic vegetable garden, have 6 horses (4 of which are rescue horses) and provide some of the Canadian rural lifestyle you may be looking to experience. There is two houses on our property, one accomodated by my parents (in their 50's Mom's an amazing cook and Dad is a highly skilled woodworker) and the other by me and my fiance (we are 27 and 30, I work with horses partime and partime in an office, and my better half is an Electrician). Both homes have cat(s) and dog(s) trying to rule the house :) The horses live right outside in the pasture.
2014 is promising to be busy and exiting again! Many learning opportunities are coming up. Helpers are needed to help with the usual farm operations including gardening, landscaping, firewood, taking care of the horses, mowing some grass and so on. In ... more inside

Hello,
July has come on by, and keeping us warm and happy. A lovely summer it is. Garden is flourishing and bears traipse by. Luckily our dogs keep them at bay.

Had great help last month by a French Help X guy. We got the garden seeded and weeded. Now just the upkeep and a few small trees to plant.

So come on by and letís share meals and conversation. The river is perfect for dipping the next few months.

Sundays are Farmers Market days and I could use some help.
Where are you headed?

Come and get to know us locals and help out while you enjoy Northern B.C.
