Currently looking for helpers in September! Come and join us in the beautiful Bulkey Valley! Our farm is situated 20 min from Smithers in the beautiful Bulkley Valley.
We grow a large organic vegetable garden, have 6 horses (4 of which are rescue horses) and provide some of the Canadian rural lifestyle you may be looking to experience. There is two houses on our property, one accomodated by my parents (in their 50's Mom's an amazing cook and Dad is a highly skilled woodworker) and the other by me and my fiance (we are 27 and 30, I work with horses partime and partime in an office, and my better half is an Electrician). Both homes have cat(s) and dog(s) trying to rule the house :) The horses live right outside in the pasture.
2014 has been very busy so far! Many learning opportunities are coming up. Helpers are needed to help with the usual farm operations including gardening, landscaping, firewood, taking care of the horses, mowing some grass and so on. In addition we are plan... more inside

We are a couple of adventurous, hard-working, fun-loving, permaculture enthusiasts looking to meet similar people who want to help with fall farm projects. Bulkley Canyon Ranch is a great place to learn about living off-grid with solar power, zero waste systems, and building with salvaged materials. This is a wilderness setting beside Ross Lake Provincial Park and overlooking Bulkley River, surrounded by three mountain ranges. We raise llamas, chickens and ducks, have three dogs and a cat. Help with gardening, firewood, animal care, harvesting of wild herbs and plants, light housework, and trail maintenance will be very much appreciated. We have a young perennial garden (forest garden) already overflowing with berries and fruit trees as well as a vegetable garden. A small greenhouse supports cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes. Rainwater is collected for garden watering, drinking water comes from a well. Several small home-based businesses are in start-up mode - a small campground and ... more inside

Organic Status: Not certified, but practice organic principles

Our property is about 75 km North East of Williams Lake (we can pick up helpers at the bus station in Williams Lake). The property is currently being developed for small scale organic market gardening (uncertified but we follow organic methods & principles). We plan to sell veggies, and fruit from our orchard. We are preparing to move out to the property full time, but currently just have two small cabins out there which are used primarily during the summer. We have a large veggie garden, fruit trees and berries, and horses. The property is on a lake, in a beautiful valley which supports an abundance of wildlife. Our lake is in the middle of a chain of 8 lakes, all of which are accessible by canoe. In your time off you can explore the valley, by hiking, biking, canoeing or kayaking. Other things you can do include swimming, fishing and windsurfing. Our helpers typically stay in tents (with a bed) as our cabins are both very small. All of our guests have enjoyed sleeping out in the t... more inside

Hello :)
Welcome to Williams Lake, BC !!
I have a 20 acre private equestrian property located 10 minutes from the city of Williams Lake in the Cariboo/Chilcotin area of the interior of British Columbia. Activities in this area include swimming, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, kyacking, camping, etc. This is some of the most spectacular scenery on the planet!

I am looking for independent self motivated and positive individuals who are capable of working on their own. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working with horses, who would enjoy taking care of a variety of other small farm animals. Carpentry experience is also an asset, as there are many fix-it projects around the place to work on.

We are located in a largely forested area with some nice open fields and great trail riding areas just ten minutes out of town of Smithers. Helpers are welcome all year round: We have horses, ponies, sheep, goats, llamas, rabbits and chickens that need to be fed and watered every day. Catching, brushing and saddling up horses for the trail rides is your mission as well as handling young horses to get them used to people.

If you are already a horse person, that's great, if not we will help you at the beginning until you become confident around them. We have taught many people how to ride here.

Things can be very busy here especially during the summertime, there are special events coming up where we set up a petting zoo do pony rides f... more inside
