Organic Status:

We live off the grid (with an array of solar panels and a backup generator run on recycled vegie-oil) on 160 acres of mixed forest with several creeks flowing through it.

Gardening (we have a good sized vegetable patch) is part of the spring, summer and fall routine as well as gathering firewood, trail clearing, caring for our ducks and horses, fixing fences, and picking edible wild foods and herbs etc. We eat a lot of what the garden has ready or what is in the root cellar.

We continue to work on the new addition (including a 2 story turret) to our owner-built house (a passive solar design) using as much local material as possible, combining earthbag, strawbale, cob, and adobe with a post and beam frame.
We 're also finishing a new greenhouse (64'x12'), and look forward to a longer growing season for tomatoes, peppers etc. and to be able to try to grow more exotic foods such as yams, ginger, lemons etc.

We are looking for helpers who are physically fit, hardworking, k... more inside

Our farm is in the remote countryside, 20 km from the town of Quesnel, not far from historical gold-rush town of Barkerville and nearby arts town of Wells, BC, in the heart of the Cariboo region of British Columbia, Canada.

We raise Cashmere goats, Icelandic sheep and chickens, as naturally as we respectfully can, all under the watch of Akbash guardian dogs and one (half dog - don't tell her we said that) border collie/blue heeler. We produce much of our own hay and while not focused on organic, we are continuously working to improve our animal husbandry, and land and garden stewardship practices to achieve sustainable balance.

As a guest in our home and on our farm, you can expect the following:
- to live with lots of animals everywhere.
- You must be comfortable with large dogs and respect that these dogs as working guardian animals, protecting their goats and sheep from predators.
- cats in the house
- no smoking in the house
- to be in an remote rural setting. Th... more inside

Located 15km beyond beautiful, unique, and historic Telegraph Creek in the Stikine Valley of NW BC, 3 Sisters is a rustic and gorgeous property of 28 acres. It is situated on unceeded Tahltan (First Nations) Territory.
There is an endless variety of things to do in your off-time, including kayaking/canoeing the Stikine River or nearby lakes; hiking/climbing Glenora Mt. (I live at the base of it) or any number of trails in the area; fishing for salmon in season, trout all year; boating--I've got the boat--sight-seeing/photography, the list goes on.
I'm seeking help as follows: help build my attached greenhouse; minor carpentry work in and out of my log house (with frame addition); minor fencing work; help either fix or tear down our original house (across the creek); build a fish-house; help install my wood-stove-connected hot water system; help maintain--and EAT--the large and productive garden; I could go on, but there is always PLENTY to do in such a lifestyle.
