This listing is for two separate properties, one in St Kilda West and one in Somers, The Mornington Peninsula.(70mins drive from Melbourne).
At the moment, I need help in Somers and not in St KIlda.
Both properties have a comfortable, good sized, QS bedroom for Helpxers. Both properties have internet and all mod cons.
1. Somers, The Mornington Peninsula. (photos below. Interiors to follow).
This is a 3 bedroom (2 bathroom) beach house, 5 minutes walk to a lovely safe, clean, sandy swimming beach in the small coastal town of Somers on The Mornington Peninsula.
This is a residential area, however The Mornington Peninsula is an all seasons destination for holiday makers in search of both calm Bay beaches and wild, surf. Plus there's great hiking, fabulous local food and award winning wine (mainly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay).
There is a train from Melbourne to Frankston, change for Bittern or Hastings and there is also a bus from Frankston to Somers. I am happy to pick people up from stations nearby and I can drive helpers from Melbourne depending on my work schedule and movements.
Jobs to do in Somers :
A: The house needs some general maintenance, cleaning, household chores, mowing the lawn and the management of a small garden. If your skills include, DIY, putting pictures up, hanging shelves, fixing basic things that need repair, your skills would be very useful.
B. Longer term - If you are a carpenter/builder, craftsperson, wood worker, I have a project that needs these skills. This would probably require someone who wants an extended stay in a beautiful corner of Victoria. If you have your own transport, even better. This project would happen in Somers and time off could also be taken in St Kilda West.
Accommodation for Helpers in the Somers house is in a large, comfortable, QS bedroom. The house has two bathrooms, is spacious, has internet and it has all mod cons. The Peninsula has fabulous walks, beaches, wineries, horse riding, sculpture parks and is a short drive (75mins) or train ride (90) to Melbourne. The nearest cafe is 500m from the house and the shops at Balnarring are 2kms away. Bikes are available.
2. St Kilda West - (photos are shown on website link)
A helper or helpers are requested with skills in a variety of things :
a) MYOB accounts software and Excel. Please apply if you know these well and if you can work quickly, have a good attention to detail and have done this for a living or done your own accounts/book keeping.
b) website additions and some tweaking on an exisiting design. Help is required with Mac related issues and I want help on CRM (Salesforce).
c) General odd jobs and mini gardening - help is needed with pruning overhanging branches - ladder work is sometimes necessary. Happy to hold the ladder! Moving plant-pots around.
d) General household chores- cleaning, ironing and a bit of maintenance around the house.
You would be staying in a comfortable, spacious Queen size bedroom with an adjacent shared bathroom, which is in a quiet, comfortable in a 1880s Victorian house in one of St Kilda's best streets, directly opposite St Kilda Beach & Pier, with 3 trams at the end of the road (96, 16, 12). The City is a 20 minute tram ride. We are situated on the corner of Beaconsfield Parade & Fitzroy St, with shops, cafes & all the local facilities including Albert Park, Acland Street, Fitzroy Street etc. nearby. There is wifi internet throughout and I cook when around & I am also happy if you like cooking. There is good food on offer and I love a good exchange over a meal.
Favourite Helpxers are mature, self starters, between 25-50s, understand and speak English, so that communication is clear. We speak some french and german, but not well enough to explain all the tasks that need doing.
Helpers are preferred with references from previous hosts so we know that you know the drill, get on with the jobs in hand and understand the joint expectation. Photos & references please. I like to skype before accepting helpers.
The requirement is 4 hours a day, with a day off a week.
Approaches are considered from singles, couples or from 2 friends, with the required skills, those willing to work 4 hours as if it were a paid job and at times that suit my availability to manage these projects (generally in the mornings).
Although happy to cook when available, helpers who also like cooking are welcome to self cater so you are self sufficient when we are not around. Food is provided.
Are you independent, have already lived away from home, have a really strong work ethic & can slot in very quickly, are socially confident and can speak good english and are you tidy and organised? We enjoy living a harmonious space, with shared responsibility for making that a daily reality and we want to avoid asking anyone to clean up after themselves.
If you have done Helpxchange work before on any of these schemes and if you have good references on this site or elsewhere, please apply. Good communication and transparency are highly valued.
Why come to Melbourne?.....because it's Australia's best City and even when the weather isn't hot, there is so much to do and see. The beach is 2 mins walk from the house. Albert Park is 3 mins walk from the house. Melbourne prides itself on being the cultural capital of the country. It is a great City all year round - there is always a festival on, the Grand Prix starts in March and we have the best independent music scene in Australia and there are literally hundreds of fabulous art galleries, museums, parks and attractions to visit here. It also has the best coffee in the world! South Melbourne Market is only 10 minutes away by tram. Melbourne is buzzing with talks, films, shows, film festivals, good shops and some of the best food in the world, at affordable prices. Whatever your thing, you'll probably find it in Melbourne.
Why come to Somers?...Because it is a beautiful area made up of 70% residents, 30% holiday houses, which means it's a close-knit community and prides itself on being a bit of a hidden gem. Somers people are friendly, the water and air are clean and the area boasts many attractions for those who love the outdoors - great walks, horse riding, fabulous beaches and the area has good local produce and it is an award winning wine region. Plus there's a vibrant music and art scene.
Helpers who wish to help out in Somers might want to have their days off in St Kilda West, so they can enjoy the City and vice versa depending on the jobs that need doing at the time and the skills on offer. A mix and match is also possible.
I looking forward to hearing from you.
