Our B&B is located in a tranquil rural setting about 1km from the beach at Hull Heads, 20km from Tully in tropical north Queensland. We are a gay friendly establishment and welcome all comers. We particularly wish to help gay HelpX travellers to feel comfortable and relaxed in a friendly, accepting environment. The pool is adjacent to the B&B unit and our house. Cyclone Yasi in 2011 damaged lots of trees on the property and most of the work clearing debris from the cyclone has been completed now!
We are a commercially operating B&B with only one unit for accommodation. It is also used for HelpXers. When we have a reservation for paying guests they take priority. We can comfortably accommodate one HelpXer in our house when paying guests arrive. We also have a caravan which still needs a little more refurbishing to be used as HelpX accommodation. If you have building/handyman skills your help would be welcome to fix the van so we can provide accommodation both for HelpXers and paying B&B customers at the same time. We currently (June 2014) have gardening work to do.
A car is almost essential, there is no public transport. While we are happy to collect you from Tully your movements are restricted without your own vehicle. We travel to Tully a couple of times a week and you are welcome to join us.
Experience has shown that two people are more likely to enjoy a stay at The Buoys than an individual.
We offer three meals a day in return for your help and expect at least 4 hours of assistance each day. We may even find the time to do some sightseeing with you.
Until you confirm your arrival date we remain open to receive other helpers. Please remember to advise your arrival and departure dates and times promptly.
