VACANCY from May 13th.

Hello HelpX travelers. We would love to have you join us on our beautiful farm at this lovely time of year. We will have space for either a couple or a single person from May 13th.

Our farm suits mature people with previous farm experience or previous manual skills or trade to stay with us for 2 weeks. Though I of our best workers had no prior farm experience!! You must be able to cook basic meals, be independent and look after yourself.

Our Farm is 45 mins west of Brisbane CBD, just past Samford at Cedar Creek, nestled in a small valley of tress, creeks, birds, butterflies, and peaceful breezes.

Accommodation is either in the house with us (Air Conditioned room with double bed) OR in our cute and cosy vintage Camper Van with 2 double beds freshly made. THE Van is in a shed 100 meters from the house with its own toilet, shower, kitchenette, fridge and lounge type space for your private use with gorgeous outlook over the hilly views.

FOOD and MEALS - We supply standard grocery items (including special dietary requests within reason); a kitchenette to take care of Breakfast and lunch for yourself; evening meals are shared (includes cooking and clean up) so we can catch up on each other's day and vary in relation to work and other daily activities. We enjoy a beer or wine now and then usually on the weekend after a days work. As it gets cooler we also enjoy times around our fire pit as it gets cooler.

HELP - 25 - 28 hrs of farm work a week (Depends on level of difficulty). Typical tasks required - basic land care jobs such as weeding / repairing fences / planting trees / mowing and mulching. Other jobs we would like help with would depend on prior skills and experience but we would enjoy carpentry / painting / minor landscaping / chook pen enclosures and cooking in general. We also are open to ideas based on your personal interest and skill mix.

US - We are a busy family of Mum, Dad and 12 yr old with several animals (dogs, cows, horse, alpacas and a chook and rooster). We are NON - SMOKERS and family type people. I work as a Nurse with young people and my husband works as a plant technician. Our 12 year old is full of creative ideas, a love of animals, in particular her horse, music, art and cooking.

TRANSPORT - Having your own vehicle is an advantage out here but we can pick up from the train which is a 30 minutes drive away - so this needs to be worked out prior as we do not travel to the train every day. If it ends up being a special pick up we would be able to do so for a fee of $50.

We would love someone with an interest in music, cooking or sewing or anything crafty.

We are a busy family - so our farms suits persons who can look after themselves and not mind being alone; who can work independently; are interested in land and tree care; who learn quickly; who love nature, birds and exploring the bush.

As I work in town I am happy to drop you off to explore local places and potentially use our place as a base to travel to place such as Stradbroke Island?

Safe travels, and e-mail any questions you may have, see you soon perhaps .... Col and Jenny
