We started our farm in Martinique nine years ago.

Nour, an agriculture historian, grew up in Martinique and came back to make her dream of an organic farm come true. Tommaso is agronomist, he grew up in Italy and worked in several African countries before arriving on this little island. We both had the opportunity to take a Permaculture Design Course (PDC) in Pai, Thailand, that inspired us a lot.
Macabou, Nour's parents land, offered us the opportunity to start this adventure.
The land is quite steep and is surrounded by a beautiful forest. In the middle of the forest a lake and beyond, the sea.

The project takes shape. Many ideas are floating in our minds and step by step find their way on the land. At the same time we learn how to realize dreams.

A hudge orchard is growing and expanding presenting a high diversity of tropical fruits. Diversity and catastrophe resilience are our main goals. We expect to build a tropical food forest, here, which would survive us.

We grow veggies for our own consumption and are trying to produce more for the market's need.

For the moment we have donkeys and sheep helping us cleaning the land. Some hens also joined the crew and provide us with some eggs.

We are learning beekeeping and we are handling around 20 hives these days.

We are always interested in people showing construction skills as we want to build few tools like a cob oven, a rocket stove and some woden structures. We have several construction projects that are awaiting proper timing and proper encounters to become real (any knowledge on SuperAdobe or Adobe is welcome).

Helpers are accomodated in a hudge cotton tent, protected by a roof. It can host 2 to 3 persons. Extra tents can be set up if you bring yours. For the moment we hosted no more than 3 helpers at a time. Matresses, clean sheets and Mosquito nets are available. There is basic electricity (solar) and drinkable water around. There is a dry toilet in the tent area and a cold water outside shower. The area where helpers are living still needs a lot of improvements and is susceptible to be under construction during your stay.
Internet is not working very well and not always available so we could say our farm is not fit for someone in need to surf often.
For the moment our bathroom can be used for hot showers and the kitchen is shared for all the meals, except the monday meals that you'll cook on the tent area with the products provided by us (a rocket stove is for the moment available up there). Cooking skills are appreciated but must of all we expect our guests to be clean, participate to basic domestic chores and be respectful of our home and our private spaces.

We host on a 2 weeks basis renewable if everybody is happy with the exchange and we prefer long term stays. The longest stay we had untill now has been of 5 month.
Helpers are expected to work with us on the farm 5 full days a week and help out with the daily basics if they stay on site during their days off.
Main activities are weeding (on the veggie garden and in the orchard), watering, cutting thorns, seeding and planting, taking care of the animals, improving the earthworks. From time to time we have some building projects that volunteers can be part of if they are interested and/or skilled. In general expect a lot of hard work under a very hot sun. Please remember that it is a work place and we are dealing with several stress sources, it won't be the best place for you to relax but for you to do, experiment and exchange!

We expect our guests to have a deep interest and/or experience in farming and DIY, and not only the will to build up an interest. We are looking for very autonomous, respectful, understanding and dynamic persons. At least one experience in community living or in volunteering in such a project is expected as we are a young and just installed couple on a hudge project and cannot cope with persons needing constant guiding.
If you are passionate about organic farming and you think you can adapt quickly to new conditions and new responsability, we will be pleased to have you here!

It would be useless to contact us more than 1 month before your arrival as it is too complicated for us to commit in advance. We prefer hosting persons already traveling in the Caribbean, independantly from their desire to visit us. We also prefer to meet before taking any decision.

Due to a high quantity of request, we do not consider anymore e-mails of a couple of lines only.
From experience we concluded that a request should at least give us an idea about :
- who you are (name, age, gender, skills, interests)
- why you chose our farm.
- what makes you a pleasant helper. (e.g. farming, housekeeping, cooking, playing music, etc.)
- when and how long you are willing to stay.
