We are situated on 50 acres of Soil Association certified pasture and woodland, in an idyllic and central location in the South West of England. We have a small, 7-bedroomed hotel together with restaurant. We produce many of the ingredients used in the restaurant including pork, lamb, herbs, salad leaves and vegetables, so the tasks here are quite diverse. We also have 3 horses, which need looking after. We have a great deal of very interesting wildlife, including resident beavers, so if you are a keen photographer, you will be in heaven here. The food we offer is all homemade, mainly organic and quite delicious. We are looking one or two enthusiastic volunteers (couples welcome) to help us with the daily routine of looking after the hotel, estate and animals.

Coombeshead Estate is home to wildlife ponds, undulating pasture and woodland. Sheep and pigs are reared on the estate for meat. The extensive kitchen gardens provide herbs, apples, vegetables and currants for the restaurant. Help is welcome in all areas: gardens, kitchen, laundry, butchery etc.
During the summer and autumn, the main focus is on the garden which needs planting up, weeding and then the produce needs harvesting and turning into preserves such as blackcurrant jam and coulis, pesto, rhubarb sorbet, plum compote, chutneys etc. so that we can serve a little bit of summer during the winter months. For food lovers, this is a haven of deliciousness with much to learn. In the winter months we prune the apple trees, spread muck on the garden, build new and repair old raised beds and up-keep the garden with the winter produce. In the kitchen, we butcher lamb and make tagine, Bolognese, Chilli con carne and soup for the freezer. Our resident volunteers consume much of this. If there is something in particular that you excel in, please do let us know, as we would love you to show us your area of expertise. For those whose are not from the UK we are very willing to help you to improve your English, but are not able to teach you from scratch.
Internships are very welcome at all times of year. We understand that you need paperwork completed and are happy to oblige. We have a totally smoke-free environment inside and out so no smokers please!

Please bring indoor shoes, outdoor shoes, slippers, rubber boots and waterproof trousers and jacket. We do have free WiFi here, which can be accessed in the main building.

We provide all bed linen, towels, soap and flannels if required. We do ask you to keep your accommodation clean and tidy and borrow the cleaning bucket and vacuum cleaner on your days off.

We ask for five days a week. On your days off, we are often able to give you a lift into town, but please give us advanced warning of your intentions.

If you are a couple, you are welcome although we cannot guarantee that you will always be working together.

To apply for a visit, please send a CV and current photograph together with some history and details of your hobbies so that we can get a reasonable picture of who you are and what your aspirations involve.

We very much look forward to meeting you!
Tina and Tony
