We welcome positive and conscientious compadres to join our nature lodge project on long or short-term basis.

You will help us in tending, maintaining, nurturing, repairing & sustaining a place of peace and natural beauty. Our aim is to provide a refuge where we all can rejuvenate and recharge ourselves and reconnect to the beauty of nature. The idea is big (and also simple) and the work is sometimes sweaty but almost always fun & rewarding (never dull). Join us!

We invite you to become a part of our cozy lodge and get to know the rural community, walking trails, rivers and birds of San Gerardo de Rivas. In exchange for your commitment and attentive willing help 4 days per week (28 hrs)we offer: a private sleeping space, wi-fi, cooking oil, spices, tp, hot showers,rice/beans/oats to prepare,coffee/tea, organic garden produce, weekly laundry, weekly shopping transportation, and other perks.

In return, we require true reciprocation. Activities include professional reception at the lodge, organic garden care, trail maintenance & alternative building projects. We schedule the type of work depending on the need. 28 hours/week/3 week minimum commitment.

Most days we're a poly-lingual household and a basic proficiency in Spanish and English is useful.

Enthusiasm for 'jumping' into the daily activities, whatever they may be, from mixing cement to attending to guests is key. Even if you're not confident about it, the gusto you bring to it is important;) Extra help beyond the minimum requirement for the exchange is considered "extra credit" and we find ways to compensate for the true help and positive energy given. We enjoy teaching, learning and sharing with others.

Our team values people who can 'own' a job, be professional, work and play well as part of a group or solo. Much of the evening reception work relies on your ability to 'captain' the ship on your own.

You must be willing to share space with others in a way that is conscious and respectful of both guests and other staff. Helpers share baths & kitchen with paying guests and must leave the spaces in exemplary condition after use.

All household members help with community recycling and environmental efforts including making eco-bricks from plastic waste and participating in the community recycling effort.

Oye! We are situated in lush highland forest full of waterfalls and abundant bird and mammal life. Hikes in the area are from moderate to quite difficult. We'll provide transport to the weekly farmers' market, but most travel here is done on foot. Be ready to get in shape.

Basic maths and the ability to settle accounts is a requirement of the position.

Must be cat and dog and forest-creature friendly. The lodge is non-toxic and we don't use synthetic pesticides. We accept nature as a whole and we accept our place within it. Wayward forest creatures are appreciated and re-located. Mammals, insects, reptiles, amphibians, arachnids are indigenous to this forest.

Couch potatoes and IM addicts will not fit in here. We are mindful and focused when at work, so your device will not be with you during your work hours. Work time is unplugged time.

We are a non-smoking hotel and we cannot have illegal drug use on the property.

This is a rustic nature lodge located at the trail head to Mt. Chirripo, Costa Rica. Many travelers come to the area not only for the Park, but to enjoy the cool air, free-access hiking, excellent birding, waterfalls, slow village life and beautiful high elevation forest.

Feel free to ask for more information and tell us about yourself and your journey!
