GREAT Social life! Our staff members are the best!

We ask:
You offer us 2-6 hours help per day and help us generally make our guests feel welcome and take care of our lovely hostel like you would your own home! Of course, you can have a day off whenever you want. We encourage our staff to get to know the city and experience our beautiful country.

A word from the Owner

"A chairde/My Friends

For 12 months per year we welcome volunteer-workers to assist us in our lovable wee hostel in the Historic walled-city of Derry, aka Londonderry, in Northern Ireland.

You'll be made to feel very welcome, treated with courtesy & respect and become part of our hostel team which has a family feel to it.
Derry is full of history and there are great sightseeing options nearby - especially beautiful Donegal & the world-famous Giants Causeway. Belfast is only 1.5 hours away, we have friends in a hostel there who will let you stay some nights for free there, should you wish to visit in your free time.

We would love to have you as part of our team. We all work hard for 2 hours per day from 11am to 1ish getting the place ready for the new arrivals, and the day is divided into three 5-hour periods on reception... but the fun we have and the Irish cultural opportunities we offer you will be truly fantastic.

I own 50% of Derry hostel and Derry is my hometown, which is why it is my pride and joy and I dream one day of winning a Hoscar, the Oscars of the global hostel industry!

If you come and stay with us you will be staying in an authentic Irish City, full of history and politics and friendly people... not some tourist-trap.

We are very friendly with our local pub - Peadar O'Donnells and we go there for music every night of the week and you will become great friends with all the bar staff and musicians there.

MEALS: we provide breakfasts, staff also occasionally cook a family meal

Come join us, stay as little or as long as you like.
