At the moment we have a vacancy for a person who is interested in improving their English language skills in our home here on Kangaroo Island, South Australia, in exchange for helping us. Must be physically fit, a cheerful and willing worker who is able to work without constant supervision, be able to think for yourself and to improvise when necessary.
Sometimes the help needed could involve agility, for example climbing a ladder to do cleaning or painting, or being strong to help shift furniture, able to handle a chainsaw, help with house repairs, fencing, garden digging and other work usually done by a male helper. It just depends on what project is being worked on at the time.
Minimum stay 2 weeks (Sunday evening to Friday evening of the second week). A longer stay of up to a few months may be OK provided we get on well together as family and depending on our situation at the time.
All meals provided, and you`ll be treated as a member of our family. You`ll be immersed in the English language all the time, receive half an hour of personal, one-to-one English lessons a day Monday to Friday, and be able to ask questions about English and get extra help with the language all the time.
This is NOT paid employment, nor do you pay for English tutoring, meals or accommodation. It is an excellent opportunity to rapidly improve your English, be part of an Australian family, to learn about the Australian rural culture, to live with kangaroos and close to other Australian animals, and to enjoy one of Australia’s top iconic tourist destinations.
To apply, please message me with details of your work experience and skills, your age, and how long you would be interested in staying.
