WE have a borgo (a tiny agricultural hamlet)where we live on a beautiful sunny hillside in central Italy. We are slowly restoring it but need help!
Languages spoken here are English and Italian. As of time of writing (end of Feb 2014)we would be ready to receive helpers from about mid April,so long as the weather's not too shitty.. In any case, we can only have Helpx's until the end of the third week in June, starting again in Setember until October.
We need help getting the place all polished up for the coming summer, weeding, mowing, planting, splitting and stacking firewood (lots of that to do)etc etc.
The helpers would get to stay in the huge, well appointed Casa Padronale (7 dbl bedrooms)and would live in considerable comfort- the house is also equipped with high speed internet.
My wife and I would prefer an older couple who wouldn't need alot of supervision but young people would be ok if they have a reasonable work ethic and are up to splitting firewood.
The deal we offer is: we pay for all your food and drink and provide excellent, autonomous accoms.and you give us 6 hrs work a day, 6 days a week. The nearest village is a 4km walk downhill (but uphill on the way back) so you're basically stuck here for the duration! But it's a wonderful place to be stuck!
So please don't apply for this gig if you want a base to tour central Italy from, as I can't offer a taxi service.Obviously though at the beginning we will pick you up from the nearest station (Terontola) or airport (Perugia).
