Our place borders on the Herbert River, Girringun National Park and Wet Tropics World Heritage area and is remote and natural without mobile reception or fast internet. Lat 18 deg 25.253 S and 145 deg 46.662 E on Google Earth. Activities include canoeing, fishing, walking, exploring, bird watching (over 130 species), plenty of wildlife such as wallabies, bandicoots, gliders, monitor lizards, pythons, etc possible, as we have no cats or dogs. We are within 100km of Hinchinbrook and the Palm Islands, Broadwater State Forest Park and Wallaman Falls and other remote tourist destinations. We have 10ha of forestry cabinet timber trees and we breed, train, compete and sell Australian Stock Horses maintaining around 30 horses at most times. Brian is a ships master and works offshore and Helen is a marine scientist and a teacher. There is always plenty to do and we enjoy company and help with any things that make less chores for us and depends on what each visitor feels they can offer and this is in exchange for a REAL Aussie experience incl food and board. We are conservationists and nature lovers though with horses it is difficult to balance at times. All visitors need to have horse experience or to be happy to do domestic jobs (cleaning and food prep). We only offer riding for experienced horse people able to train/educate young horses. Please feel free to discuss this with us as work requirements and circumstances change.
