We are a small organic lifestyle farm surrounded by lovely scenery and native bush about 25 minutes north of Cheviot, North Canterbury. We have a large vegetable garden, fruit and nut orchard, Kune Kune pigs, chickens and ducks, and 2 feline family members.

We take a permaculture inspired approach to land management and other activities.

Located 50 minutes from Hanmer Springs, and 1.5 hours from Kaikoura via the Inland road (the coastal road is currently closed due to earthquake repairs).

We are looking for somebody to work 2-3 hours per day in exchange for accommodation in our comfortable private eco-cabin. The cabin is self contained and includes a loft bed, small kitchen to prepare your own meals, fire heated outdoor shower and bath, and an outdoor composting toilet. There is a private deck overlooking the native bush, and hammocks to relax in at the end of the day. A great place to embrace nature, get your hands dirty, and get to do plenty of relaxing as well! Our sturdy little eco-cabin withstood the 7.8 magnitude earthquake without any damage! So come explore this part of North Canterbury with the beautiful walking tracks of Cheviot, the beaches at Gore Bay and Manuka Bay, Conway River and beach, and Hanmer Springs nearby.

(The work exchange is for accommodation only. You will need to provide all your own food and prepare your own meals).

Types of work activities may include:
Gardening (preparing, planting weeding, picking)
Working with trees (planting, pruning, harvesting)
Building and alternative energy system maintenance
(much of these are determined by the weather and seasons)

We are looking for people who are keen to do hard work and some heavy lifting who are willing to be flexible about working in different kinds of conditions and who can handle strenuous activities for 2-3 hours at a time.
