About me
I am 35 years old, after studying and working in different countries (France, Spain, Morocco, Senegal, United Kingdom, Brazil) in cultural projects I am coming back to my small village in north of Italy where I grew up with the aim of restoring the old property, in the village of Tonengo di Mazze.
My academic background is in art history and my main interests are focused on philosophy, dance and photography and I speak fluently English, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and I have a basic level of Arabic. So I think you can have a general idea of the kind of communication you can engage with me.

Tonengo di Mazzé is about 40km north east of Turin and just over 100km west of Milan. The nearest train stations are Caluso and Chivasso 50 and 30 minutes from Turin respectively or 1h15 to 1h30 from Milan by train to Chivasso. Find the train times on In normal weather, the Italian Alps dominate the view accross the fields to the North. Tonengo is a southward extension of the village of Mazzé where there is a castle ( Tonengo has a post office, a bank and some bars. The village of Mazzč one kilometre further north has restaurants and more cafés. It may be possible to visit the castle which is built on a hillside above the river Dora Baltea which rises at the ski resort of Cervinia to the north.
Piemont is a wine producing area and the historic village of Caluso which is five kilometres from Tonengo is best known for the erbaluce and the passito dessert wine.

I am looking for volunteers to help in exchange for bed and languages and photography courses. I don’t smoke so I wish to host just not smoking people.

There will be "a test period" in the first 3 days, to see if the volunteer is compatible with the works to do.
The work includes house renovation, roof maintenance/building, plumbing maintenance, painting
The worker has to have previous experience in:
Roof building
Eco-project building

Since the house is under renovation, at the moment there is only one bedroom available. Bathroom + kitchen shared.
The house has two large piemontese roofs in terracotta tiling positioned on either side of a large courtyard. The plan for the future, perhaps this summer, is to repair these roofs. More immediately, there is plumbing work to do on the first floor of the house where I live. When the first floor plumbing has been fixed, you will have your own bathroom : which will be even nicer than mine ! Part of the work could be organising the old agricultural equipment that is in the barn on the opposite side of the courtyard. The barn was once also a house and may return to that purpose in the future.
The first floor where you will stay, has a long south facing veranda with metal work to be repainted. At the end of the veranda, there is an open terrace area which I use for sitting out in the summer and which was used for drying tomatoes, maize (corn) and other produce.
The volunteer's room is on the first floor. To get there, you go up a flight of outdoor steps. The first floor is more modern than the ground floor which is a typical piemontese house with a vaulted ceiling. The house dates from 1850 and was the first to be built in the village.
