Hi every one ! Welcome in Tahiti!
Please read carefully all what I wrote for you. Make sure you agree with everything before sending me a message. Thank you!
My name is Michel.I am french , from South of France.
After travelling for many years around the world on our boat, I am now living in French Polynesia.
I speak french, english, portugese(from Bresil) and some spanish.
I live now mainly in a house next to which I build my new workshop. sometimes I also go on my boat, Samba, a 48' yellow trimaran, that we build in Trinidad in 1997 and launch in 2002.( you can see some pictures of my work on FB at (Ocean Sails Tahiti)
Also I organise sailing trips to the islands and atolls.
These are the 2 activities I do for a living.
There is a lot of maintenance on Samba, cleaning and repairs to do all year long, but usually it require a specialist. So I usually do it myself.
You can give me a hand in the sailoft/workshop where I work during the day, in the garden etc...
If you are afraid to get your hands dirty or can't carry loads, do not apply ! hahahahaha!
Sailing is my job and people that I take sailing are customers.
SO DO NOT APPLY IF YOU EXPECT TO COME TO LEARN AND SAIL IN THE ISLAND FOR FREE on Samba, THIS IS MY JOB FOR LIVING !hahahaha!
If we go on Samba, for a day or two,
you will have to be ready to adapt to the boat's life, use the canoe to go ashore, carry water etc...
Life is quite expensive in Tahiti, keep that in mind when you come.
If you cannot stay with me after 2 days trial, you will need to find another place to stay.
I will gladly host and keep people in the house for a try of 2 days/2 night, to see if we go well along and are willing to learn how to work and ready to do any work asked for.
I expect you to be polite, respectful, able to listen to what I say and when we go on Samba, adapt to the boat life, which is very different from land s life.
I DO NOT HOST SMOKERS.
PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE A SMOKER
The house is in Punaauia, pk 12100, and the boat is either in front of the yacht club in Arue, or near the Marina Taina, which is only 4 km from the house..
You will need to learn to use a kayak to come onboard and go back to land, on your own.
I will give a try for 2 nights to start with. If we go well along and your work is satisfactory, then you will be able to stay longer. If not you will have to keep going.
I offer 3 kind of arrangement
1/ you are host and have food in exchange of 5h of work for each day/night you stay.
2/ you are host but food is at your charge in exchange of 3h of work each day/ night.
3/ If you want to be free for a few days you can rent a room in the house.
Like in any sharing leaving place(boat or house)you will be asked to participate at the normal life : preparing food, making the dishes, passing the bloom on the floor, usual cleaning at the bathroom etc...(that time is not considered working time).
Applying mean you agree with thoses conditions and we understand each other.
If you read up to here, please write : " Samba was build in Trinidad " at the beginning of your message. Thank you !
I am a dancer and I go out dancing a few time a week, salsa, bachata, kizomba and tango
I am also a chess player.
Welcome in Tahiti !
