We have a lovely property by the beach in Pahoia (halfway between Katikati and Tauranga). This is an ideal place to spend some time and use as a base for sightseeing in the Bay of Plenty. You could even complete a restoration of a vehicle that you purchase in NZ into a small mobile home for seeing the country. (as several of my helpers have done in the past)

Accommodation is Free of Charge in return for Helping but PLEASE bring your own FOOD (Groceries) AND A PAIR OF GARDEN GLOVES We often have vegetables and fruit to share.

We offer a cabin with Queen bed, bedding available (photo attached) and behind is a private small camp kitchen with gas cooker, BBQ, Power. This self contained area is usually for couples wanting privacy otherwise you can use the Point Kitchen as shown in Photo.( We also have a vehicle that has been made into a bedroom for a 3rd person or 2 to 3 children.
There is a Flushing Toilet and we light the fire in the afternoons to heat the water for shower and dishes if there is 6 or more staying as a group otherwise there is a hot shower available.

We also have a Container that has purpose built beds and a double bed in a camper van so if there is a few traveling together I can usually help. We have an open air kitchen (as shown in picture) that has plastic drop down curtains to suit all weather conditions. This kitchen can be shared with other Travelers and is a great meeting place to chat about your own countries.

We require at least 3 hours work per day and that is usually in the morning unless special arrangements made. This leaves the afternoon available for sight seeing or work longer hours on some days and take a day off or explore around here and kayaking,or fishing off the beach Some of the hours you work covers the use of gas, wood for fire, Water, Electricity, etc. The other hours help improve the property which is a BONUS for us..and the reason I need and appreciate VERY WILLING WORKERS

Laundry facilities are available for people who stay and help longer than 4 days. Minimum Stay would be 5 or more days as it always takes time to set up and show travelers what is needed. I say this because I find that such a lot of travelers only plan to stay long enough to get seasonal work and are not able when working to enjoy the country and its surrounds. There is an option of being a seasonal worker and we can discuss this arrangement.

WIFI is not available (YET but SOON) however Spark USB stick will work here, mobile phones work here. There is a library at Omokoroa with WIFI .. 10 minutes drive and my lap top is available for any emergency (Hot spot through mobile phone)

There is also the possibility to sleep in your own vehicle if you are only here for a few days or if the cabin and other accommodation is already taken.

HELP is needed like feeding animals (cleaning pet areas), gardening, weeding, painting, watering, building repairs and maintenance housework, clearing pathway to future wetland restoration. All travelers ideas are welcomed and often their projects are completed WHICH I am so proud of and THEM

Outdoor Pursuits: Swimming, Kayaking, Fishing. 20 Minute Drive to Tauranga, 30 minute to Mt Maunganui, 1 hour Rotorua, 1 hour to Hobbiton

Resident RESCUE Pets: dogs, ducks, fallow deer, miniature horse, pheasant, Guinea Fowls, chickens and 4 turtles in pond. Last year we had a Seal visit and bathe on the beach and in the channel we have had Royal Spoonbills feeding .. (very large Heron like Birds)

THE POINT is isolated so you need to be happy with your own company and happy to share with other travelers. We have beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

Please Note: We are 7km from nearest shop so you must have a VEHICLE.

Look forward to meeting you.

Kind Regards, Tracey
