Greg and Michelle share a 16.5 hectare property 10 mins from Ohope Beach and 20 minutes from Whakatane in the eastern Bay of Plenty. We bought the property with Michelle's parent's, Dave and Mary, who live in a separate house 50m from our place. The property is a mix of pasture, planted trees and native forest. We have 25, or so, Dexter cattle, 40 (or so) chickens and one dog, Zac. We are keen to have non-smoking conservation-minded people to help out on the farm and around the house and garden, doing work like: building tracks, stacking firewood, painting, weeding, looking after animals, fencing, and so on. We are on main grid power but we have our own water supply, pumped up to the houses with ram pumps. We've got quite a lot of fruit and nut trees and a good vegetable garden. The accommodation is in the house with a double bed in one room and two single beds in another. Greg works for the Department of Conservation and Michelle is a nurse and also works for the Whakatane Kiwi Trust. There are guitars and a piano and other instruments in the house. We also have sea kayaks and mountainbikes and snorkelling and diving gear.
