We are into ecological self sufficiency farming producing most of what we eat and use ourselves.
We are actively preparing for Peak Oil and specialise in food producing survival skills. We think we may be some bit ahead of the times to come. Our lands are about 80 acres and we have some cattle, horses, sheep, goats, pigs, bees and poultry. We do the main part of the farm work in the traditional way, as it used to be done through the ages. The accommodation is in a caravan near to the house.
Loads of hard and very diverse work possible, we are not really offering a job as much as an introduction to an alternative life style.
This is not 9 to 5 and the weekend off since animals as well as people need to be fed and cared for more regular than that.
Of course to be really self sufficient takes a community of at least 25 people and the times are not quite bad enough to make this possible today. For that reason we often have to choose what needs to be done most urgently. Cleaning the house does not often win. In fact making the wrong choice can often have very bad consequences much more than in a commercial farm.
We are not a base camp for people who want to explore Ireland and it's music and dance since we are rather isolated and too far away from the cultural centra. And we are also not really interested in people who want to come with the sole purpose of learning English.
A genuine interest in self empowerment is essential.
