We are a rustic permaculture operation so please understand that from the start, we share what we have but money is not abundant around here and we have had some conflict with silver spoon volunteers last year. We harvest rainwater, the house is partly hempcrete, compost toilets outside and in, we recycle wood, etc.We are developing fruit trees, berries, medicinal herbs, hemp, corn, green manure and preparing for Solar Energy upgrades(solar tractor,micro-energy and solar water heating). we are a couple with a 9 year old and 2 year old boys so we can certainly use the help around the house. We are well traveled as our oldest son has already lived in 5 different countries so we welcome different cultures to share our farm.We are very interested in teaching our sons more french, they already speak spanish and english.
We have two growing sites: The greenhouse is located on our home site on the edge of the town of lac la biche in northern alberta. It is a lake front community of 3500. The setting is very rustic and great for outdoor enthusiasts. Your stay will be very near the lake( 1 mile)and we have bikes, canoe and kayak and small fishing boat to explore the area.
Our second farm site is much larger and we will start building an Earthship this summer as well as growing Industrial hemp and other specialty crops. We are new at this so projects will build as we do. This is a new business start-up, eco-friendly and holistic with permaculture principles.
2016 spring/summer should include some of the following projects:
-hempcrete build
-local market
-Earthship build with various workshops with a practical approach
-growing cash/barter crops which will include various herbs, industrial hemp, market garden
-micro-generation on 1 or 2 sites
-local market to sell/barter what we need
-EV Conversion truck
-EV conversion car
-greywater cell
-food trailer retro

It will be a busy summer, hope you can share a piece of it
