We own three big buildings constructed 1840-1909, and we're pulling them out of dereliction.
Over the next few years there will be phases of glazing, internal and external carpentry, insulating (internally) roofing, general building, plastering, tiling and fitting new kitchens and bathrooms.

We have space to camp and a really good guest-room inside for a volunteer now. We'd like to meet people for just 2-5 days, and then get in touch afterwards saying if we'd like you back for a longer visit (maybe months) or not.

We have now got log-fired central heating, and a choice of outdoor compost loos or normal ones inside. We now have showers, and should have a bath by August 2016 :-) The river swim is ten minutes walk away, towards the border with Wales.

We're a housing co-op, so members all pay rent and share the decisions about how that rent is spent. We have a limited capacity for volunteers, but would like to welcome them for specific work times - particular forestry, drainage, carpentry, bricks-and-lime-mortar or plastering, decorating or tiling work.

For much more information about us and our project, see

We can't pay travel, but we do provide your food. Food-wise, we comprise vegans, veggies and carnivores all getting on just fine. Whatever you require, will be laid out, and if what you require is more control, you could join the cooking rota and take some control or just help out in the kitchen.

We are all volunteers on the renovation project here, at the housing co-operative which we all also pay rent to and manage, collectively.

We can only handle volunteers who like work as much as we do, and we usually only host one volunteer at a time. You get a really nice room to yourself and the right to roam round our gorgeous seven acres of woodland, wetland, meadows, gardens and orchards.
