Heritage listed Fogg Dam, built in 1956 for the Humpty Doo Rice Project, is a Territory Treasure enjoyed by many locals, a paradise for bird watchers and photographers and known internationally by biologists due to ongoing study and publications by Sydney University since 1985. It’s the only wetland in the Top End accessible by road all year but a study by Charles Darwin University in 2010 predicted that it would completely close unless an active management regime was introduced to clear vegetation.

The second hand weed harvester is one component of the management program. Originally owned by Palmerston Council, it was purchased last year by Parks & Wildlife and Friends of Fogg Dam Inc.

Parks & Wildlife are seeking expressions of interest from anyone interested in helping to drive the weed harvester. Applicants needs to be able to:
• multi-task with skills similar to a tractor/grader operator
• be conscious of OH&S
• follow guidelines and procedures
• be methodical, practically minded and enthusiastic
Perhaps this would suite someone recently retired interested in part time work?

Work will vary from Park maintenance, furniture repair and maintenance, visitor surveys and general work.
