We live on a rural horse property just north of Perth. We operate a horse riding academy and have been in business for more than 20 years. We have 40 horses and 2 dogs - many wild kangaroos share the paddocks with the horses. We are looking for 1 or two helpers to assist the full time staff with the daily stable chores, gardening and general farm maintenance and sometimes help with housekeeping and cooking for the family. Accommodation is in the farmhouse, basic but very comfortable with wifi and close to shops and beaches - 10 minutes drive. There is lots of opportunity to ride both out on the bush trails or under instruction with professional equestrian coaches. The riding school clients are very friendly and most have been riding with us for many years and include all nationalities incl French, Japanese and German speaking - they are always willing to give lifts to the train station and sometimes even invite our helpxers on outings as well. Horse riding experience is not needed but love of animals is. We expect 4-5 hours work daily but are flexible with the number of days so longer days may be worked to allow for full consecutive days off. We do often have regular paid casual shifts available for helpers with demonstrated equestrian skills and prior experience with horses especially if able to stay for longer periods and fill in when regular staff are on leave or for our busy times during school holidays. Our last experience with heplxers was very bad as you can read from the feedback - I do not need to name from - who left all at the same time and were very disappointing and rude to us in many ways too. If an old lady (nearly 60) like me can do the work expected of the helpxers alone without help in 6 hours then 3 young fit people should complete in 2hours working together - never should take 10 hours to complete with 3 people unless lots of time spent sleeping in the hay and on facebook! But happily before them we had many wonderful experiences and we are ready to welcome helpxers again after many months recovering from that last experience! We do not expect people to work like slaves but expect fair effort in exchange for a nice place to stay and learn about horses and farms! This work does not qualify for second year visa but the experience you gain will provide opportunities for future 2nd yr visa work and sometimes we can arrange with our friends living in postcode areas - for the good workers and friendly housemates only!
