A great opportunity for experienced people who would like the use of land for sustainable, ecological agriculture. We are looking to hand over responsibility of the land for 2-5 years while we renovate the farmhouse.

We have 5 hectares of farmland, 40mins from the Spanish border, 20mins from Bayonne and Biarritz surf beaches. the land currently is covered in new woodland with some old trees, bamboo, tonnes of brambles and ancient vines (not currently in a state for grape production).

The house is uninhabitable, so accommodation will either be in a caravan or a tent.

This is a different situation to normal helpex arrangements as you will be independent, providing your own food and other living arrangements. Because we are renovating, the living conditions on site are pretty basic, although there is electricity, water and a hot shower under a walnut tree. There is the potential for internet (it's not currently activated) and are just finishing the temporary kitchen with mud & straw walls.

This could suit surfers (we are 25mins from Hossegor Plage), fishing fans & active people who enjoy walking, with the Pyrenees within view (40min by car) and and hour from San Sebastian. The land is on the outskirts of a pretty village with one shop & 1 bar/restaurant. The land is a 10min walk down to the River Adour, which goes all the way to Bayonne (good for cycling and canoeing).

We invite people to email us with a proposal of your ideas on how you would like to use the land and how you can sustain yourself while there. We are asking a nominal fee for the land to ensure we are covered under rental agreement law.
