Thanks Helpxers for having a look at our profile.

First, before we begin, please note that we are only open to Helpxers this year for November-Feb. Our priorities this year are to:
(a) complete some building renovation - so would love to find some helpers with some experience in carpentry and/or plumbing (they don't need to be qualified), (b) build a brick pizza oven by the newly expanded pond on our property. For these kind of projects, we need helpers who are fit and able and willing to do some nice, hard work along side the hosts! We've also decided, given the nature of the work this year to accept volunteers who are 20 years or older.

For lots of info on Timber Trail Centre have a look at www.timbertrailcentre.com, and for info on adventures to be had in our region, check out our blogs on that site.

Timber Trail Centre is a little piece of heaven along a trout-filled river with orchards, olives, blueberries and 100 square metres of raised-bed organic vegetables. There's a beautiful 30 metre swimming hole and river beach just down the road and we're at the end of the newly opened $10 million Timber Trail Cycleway (rated by the Automobile Association as one of the top 100 sights to see in NZ). Further afield, there's the great Waitomo Glow Worm Caves, rafting down the mysterious Whanganui River, the Tongariro National Park volcan region and ski-fields, travelling on motorised carts through the jungles and farmlands to Mt Taranaki, Lake Taupo geothermal pools and more.

Over the past 5 years we've hosted over 100 volunteers(through various volunteer sites), so are experienced in this area and enjoy interacting with young people.

Accommodation for volunteers is a century-old cottage with 5 bedrooms (each with an ensuite bathroom), kitchen, lounge, hot tub for 10 and free internet.

Our place has a friendly, cosy atmosphere and we offer the opportunity to be part of a really great project that will make a difference to many young people's lives. We are would appreciate a commitment from volunteers to do about 5 hours work a day (weather depending) with Sunday's off.

We're 4 hrs from Auckland and Wellington (easy bus connections) - and there are many, many fun things to do around us. We're near Tongariro National Park one of the original two national parks globally to be designated a world heritage site, skifields (the largest in the southern hemisphere) and active volcanoes (much of the Lord of the Rings movies were filmed here), NZ's largest lake (Taupo) filled with trout and boating activities, the Forgotten World Highway with amazing rafting trips down the gorges of the Whanganui River and the famous Waitomo Glow-worm Caves.

Your hosts are Marty and Sylvie - two loving citizens of the planet who have have lived in 7 countries and worked in 40 and speak both French, English, Hindi and a bit of several other languages. Work around the world has included volunteering in the slums of Calcutta with Mother Teresa, natural health clinics, development banking, organic products, winemaking, finance consulting, movie making and launching five businesses in Europe and Australasia.

To help us make a quick decision on requests to stay at the Centre, PLEASE WOULD YOU EMAIL US WITH THE FOLLOWING DETAILS: 1. your age and country, 2. training and experience that you think might be useful for us (see first couple of paras above), 3. interests you'd like to pursue while at the Centre, 4. whether you have your own transport and a mobile and 5. what dates you'd like to stay with us.

We look forward to welcoming you, and if you decide to go elsewhere, we wish you the very best on your NZ experience!
