hello travelers! we are currently looking for a builder/carpenter to finish off some inside jobs in our house, skirtings, window frames, things like that.

survivor kakahi is a little unconventional and may not suit everyone! we do not supply 5 star accommodation, BUT! we do supply respect, great conversation and lots of laughs, food is plentiful and delicious, and a cold beer at the end of a good day is highly likely.

we enjoy meeting new people and want to host people who have life/travel experience and a degree of maturity, prefer 30 and over. we have two young children, and we value our family time, but there are plenty of opportunities to practice english, converse and relax. we are both energetic and like to be around people with high energy levels and lots of enthusiasm.

ok, so if you are still interested, read on!

ideally we are looking for a handy person with their own camper van. having said that, we are open to other possibilities! priority will also be given to anyone who can build things, or are super handy at small tasks like putting on skirting, replacing door handles, putting up shelves, that sort of thing.

we have moved into our 1900's house and need some help to finish off those small things. we also have some bigger jobs that need to be done, none of them particularly wild and exciting, building timber racks, building a chicken coup and various other items. if you are handy with a hammer, and don't mind doing all the bits and pieces, this may suit you. if you also have the ability to work unsupervised, we would love to hear from you!

we are a well traveled 50`s couple who are some what alternative and try to live simply, creating a life of permaculture and sustainability. our 2 grandchildren live with us, 3 and 8 years. we also have a lovely Labrador.

if you think you might be up for the task, be prepared to be entertained and to enjoy yourself. mike and i like to have fun and like to hang out with happy people who don`t scare easily!

we live in a small valley 20 minutes south of taumarunui, in the heart of the central king country. all of the usual activities associated with this area are within easy reach. the legendary, world famous kakahi glow worm tour is mike`s specialty!

we offer basic facilities, a camper located at our new house. we have a toilet block at our new house, with a toilet, wash basin and shower. we also have an outdoor bath there is a great waterhole for swims just a couple of minutes walk from the house, and a beautiful cold river 2k away.

we anticipate that you would be asked to work for around 4 - 5 hours per day. we will provide 3 wholesome, plentiful meals and on occasion a glass of wine or a beer with dinner. mike loves to kayak and is often looking for a willing experienced partner!

mike is a wonderful cook, we do eat a lot of meat so if you are a vegetarian this may not be for you, although we do have lots of rice :)

if you have any of the above mentioned skills or feel that a meeting would be mutually beneficial please drop us a line! regards, maxine and mike
