Hello! We would be happy to have a sociable and friendly single person or couple to volunteer on our small farm and pear orchard. We are a young family with two small children, who are quite friendly and curious and enjoy getting to know our visitors.

Volunteering activities would mainly include gardening, weeding and mulching, and native habitat restoration. We are always keen to have volunteers who are interested in learning more about our farming practices, vegetable gardening, and the regeneration projects we have underway. We enjoy getting to meet people from around the globe and hear about your travel stories.

This is not paid work. Nevertheless we are required by law to check you are legally allowed to work in New Zealand. It is mandatory that you have a working holiday visa as a volunteer. Our volunteers generally help us out for around 4 hours per day, 6 days a week - but we are fairly flexible about how our volunteers structure their time so they can make the most of exploring our beautiful region. We can help with minimizing your expenses by providing you with a private room either in our Summer Cabin or in the lodge we have on the property.

The lodge is super warm, spacious and sunny - and the people staying are generally friendly and interested in getting to know each other. Check out our website for details of the lodge, and also to see some photos of the property -

You will be served our fresh homemade lodge breakfast and will otherwise be responsible for your own meals. The lodge is equipped with a great kitchen to cook in. We do expect you to clean up after yourselves and leave the space tidy. If you need help getting to and from Richmond and the supermarket, we have bikes you can borrow.

The property has lots to explore (and direct access to the Richmond Ranges for hiking and cycling). There are also masses of native birds, quail, mischievous wekas, and there are great sea views as well...

By car, we are 5 minutes from Richmond, 20 minutes from the centre of Nelson and only a good 30-40 minutes drive to Kaiteriteri and the start of the Abel Tasman National Park. If you arrive without a car we can pick you up by arrangement...

Look forward to hearing from you!
