Help wanted! 2019 and beyond!
We have meadows, pasture, woodland, lakes and stunning views of both sea and mountain. We grow veg, meat and eggs and milk.
We want to live in the more beautiful world that our hearts know can exist. We are just starting out and this is on a small and sustainable human scale that we hope will provide food and fuel for visitors to the farm and the local community. We are using holistic management, permaculture and traditional methods.
As well as being productive, we want this to be a place where people can come and slow down for a while, to think about what matters in the world and what the world needs us to give back.
We have been here for six years, but it’s a long journey, so much of this is aspirational, but we will get there (especially with your help).
We have a young family and so some of the time you would be left to your own devices for cooking and eating dinner etc so you would have to be happy to spend some time by yourself. Our place would suit a couple best. That said we are social and friendly people so you wouldn’t be left all alone!
Accommodation is in a converted barn, caravan, recycled garden boat house or tent dependent on how many people are around and how long you are staying for and time of year etc. There are toilets and showers etc with the campsite.
We ask you to work 9am till lunch and after that it is up to you, though many people do work full days as they get excited and involved in projects. As normal we will provide food etc, though sometimes you may have to cook this yourself.
We try to tailor what you do what your interested in, but sometimes we just need to do what needs doing, we all have to put some time into keeping the farm and house etc tidy, clean and functional as well..
We need help for all sorts of jobs, but the upcoming main jobs are:
Moving our veg growing from big but domestic to establish a veg box scheme feeding local families.
Improving our fences to keep our cows and sheep out of our wildflower meadow, veg garden and camping areas
Building a micro dairy unit
Changing the farm over to work with our spring instead of mains water
Sustainable, low impact but quite traditional building renovation
Planting a new orchard and forest garden.
Daily care of pigs, sheep, chickens and cows.
Please note that many of these jobs are physically hard work, we do try to tailor work to everybody but some jobs you will be asked to do may be a challenge!
