Our names are John, Siriluck and Tom our 5 year old son.
We are trying to create a wonderful environment in which to live.
Our first priority is to build our family home and we're looking for help to build it. The house is well advanced now and we will be doing the internal rendering from 20 July.No special building knowledge needed. (don't worry, I'll be on site and the buck stops with me).
Sometimes there is some work to be done in the wood.
We provide a caravan for accommodation and good food. You will also be sharing our Yurt with us, especially at meal times. We ask 5 hours a day for 5 days every week.
The house, to our knowledge, is the first Cob build in the South of France. It's actually a hybrid with load bearing Straw Bales on the North wall. 50 cm thick cob walls, bioclimatic greenhouse, lime/acacia foundations, natural stone plinth, lime and earth renders, rocket stove, self-build solar panels.
At the time of writing we are busy Cobbing (earth building) and should be for quite a few months now.
The village of Ambres is very picturesque, standing in a dominant position over the surrounding countryside.
Were not too stranded, however, being only 4 km from LAVAUR (pop 12000) and 30 minutes easy access to Toulouse.
Our little family (fluent English, French and Thaļ) is embarking on a real life changing project. As well as the new house build there is already an organic vegetable garden and, when we know enough about it we want to develop the rest of the land following the principles of Permaculture.
I would like to transmit and exchange with xhelpers the experience that I have acquired on many, ecological building projects. (mainly straw bale, wood and cob construction) We would also appreciate learning from others about organic farming or permaculture..or anything else that may be useful..
We are looking forward to meeting you! French, English and Thai spoken.
