Our place is located in a unique location next to the Abel Tasman National park in Golden Bay, surrounded by total genuine wilderness with beautiful views over Golden Bay and beyond.
We can offer an experience in our little earth building cafe pizzeria over summer starting mid-december ( Work visa & IRD number ESSENTIAL for this).
We prefer a period of 10 days-2 weeks stay, but we can be flexible.
Out of summer, other jobs than the café are mostly helping us with gardening projects, establishing trees, gardens, sometimes building projects or earth building maintenance with some other odd jobs around.
We are a multi cultural couple (Carole is a French girl of 33 and Crian is a Kiwi guy of 43) passionate about alternative lifestyles and who try to be as self sufficient as possible while staying in close contact with the wilderness surrounding us. We live with a dog, a cat, and have chooks & gentle geese running free on the property.
We live in an earth house built by ourselves, our property is totally spray free and off the grid: we generate our own electricity and we are lucky to have our own stream water source!
There is free WiFi at the café which is at a 30min down the hill walk (or 15min by car) and there is mobile broadband 4G internet ( and phone network) nearby the home.
Accomodation over winter/ Spring is in a private eco-friendly earth building built by ourselves with incredible views over the sea and the hills. You will have your own outside unique bush shower and compost toilets, a real bush experience perfect for the ones genuinely looking for a return to nature with some modern comfort like hot water and power.
We also have our bush shower and toilets as we like to live simply and love the connection it gives with the beautiful nature we have the chance to be surrounded by.
Being right next to the Abel Tasman means there are many nice beaches to explore on your time off, forests walks in the rare native forest, and a nice waterfall down the road.
During your day off you can also walk the whole northern part of the Abel Tasman as we live very near Pigeon saddle.
During summer it's also very easy to hitchhike to explore further surroundings or to go to Takaka (Takaka is at around 35 min by car)
*** Please be aware that it can be difficult for people with allergies as we live with a long haired cat, a dog and there are beehives on the property, and plenty of blossoms! ***
It does help if people we welcome in our home, and we live with for a while, have a profile picture.
Our apologies in advance for not answering all the requests as we have a really busy life, quite a few people contacting us and very little time for Internet..
This is a very good experience for positive, reliable, fit people, keen to have a cafe experience in the NZ bush, with an interest about alternative lifestyles,
We look forward to welcoming you!
