UPDATE: Looking for a general farm helper and family member. Lots of opportunity to learn including animal work through to butchering!

4 hrs minimum a day including food and board etc (we give our helpers the same lifestyle we have - total immersion! - but when we are busy it means more work).

Minimum 4 week stay.

Woodspring is a cattle farm in Inglewood QLD owned by Ben and Sarah Eisel. We primarily fatten cattle and feed our pigs/sheep/horses by sprouting barley grass in a large cool room. We do this to make some of the yummiest beef ever and try to sell it direct to consumer. We eat it at home too so if you`re a beef lover you can`t go past it!

We are not organic but we don`t use chemicals on the paddocks, only household cleaning products in the sprouting shed. We do use chlorine bleach and you will need work clothes as they might get bleached (we can provide work clothes and boots).

Help us by harvesting the barley grass and feeding it to the cattle. Check on the cows every day. Make up the bnb if we have guests staying in the cabin. Work in the veggie patch, feeding the pigs, dogs, chickens and ducks, talking to and patting the dairy cows, and helping out around the house. Ben works another job from home and doesn`t get to do as much farm work as he likes and Sarah spends most of her time looking after Bridget (3 years) and the 1 year old twins Liz and Lucy. She will often ask you to read or do puzzles with Bridget when the nanny goes home so she can get the twins to sleep. Otherwise you can generally schedule the farm work and free time whenever it suits you. We provide full board in our house and often use of a car.

You would be living with Ben and Sarah in a spare bedroom of our 3 bedroom house (note, we are currently renovating, so you might be asked to move rooms as the builders move), with shared bathroom, living area and study with computer and internet provided.

Drinkers and smokers no problem (but you are buying your own fags and booze if you don`t drink what we make here on farm).. Vegetarians can be accommodated but your sanity questioned.

For recreation, we have a heated swimming pool, horses, motorbikes, ping pong table, pool table, heaps of movies, karaoke system, xbox one, nintendo wii, and a spare gaming computer. Usually we can provide horse riding or shooting lessons (and maybe some rabbit hunting :)). We`re about 10km from Inglewood where there`s a few pubs, supermarkets, post office, service station and other shops. Inglewood has a squash court, tennis courts, gym, football field and swimming pool. We`re only a short drive from Coolmunda dam so it may be possible to organise some leisure activities there (skiing or swimming).
