*** Do note the info below about costs involved to stay- thank you ***
If you want to experience a healthy lifestyle - great organic food from our gardens and farm - clean air - close to nature and the beach and learn about organics and healthy living and eating you will be in the right place.
From early 2014 we changed our work arrangement to a casual one so that our guests can be more relaxed and work as they feel or have the energy. To support this and allow us to continue providing great vegi organic meals and good accommodation, we implemented a casual work arrangement (work as you please - no fixed hours)
To accommodate this we implemented a nominal charge of 700 pesos per person per night to cover food and accommodation. Since implementing this our guests have all appreciated the flexibility they have. Now no one feels stressed if they find it too hot to work or need to rest and recoup from travelling in a natural healthy environment.
These days we love attracting guests who want to learn and experience new things rather than travellers that just want a cheap place to stay. We are sharing our home, our life and our time, so we want to share these with people who are excited to connect with what we are doing here.
We're a non-commercial family organic farm located just 4km from the national highway in a 'lost in time' rural rice farming village and 25 mins walk to the beach. Our visitors love the great sea views and sunsets over the South China Sea from our property.
We are health focused and most of our meals are plant-based - so if you are a vegetarian or vegan you will love it here. We only eat organic fish from our own ponds. No other meat is consumed and if we have people visiting who do not eat fish there is always plenty of great plant-based meals to enjoy.
The property right now is 1.2 hectares with plans to grow this to 3 hectares over the next 3 years.
The Farm was founded in late 2012. Previously it was a traditional rural rice farm. Rice is still grown on the property - we have five rice paddies and one large sloping field and a very large vegi garden.
Development of the property began in mid 2013 and is ongoing. We now have two wells, a water recycling system and 3 fish ponds and lots of trees.
We welcome guests from all countries. We have a minimum stay of 3 nights - this is so that we have the time to get to know you and make your stay a great experience for you and for us.
We are en-route to the Rice Terraces and Sagada Caves the other side of Baguio City. We are only one hour by bus from Baguio and one hour from the well-known San Yuan surf beach.
We have finished converting the farm over to organic agriculture. No chemicals or inorganic fertilizers are used on the farm since we purchased the property 5 years ago.
Our focus is to create a magic space where people can come from around the world and connect to nature and themselves and learn new ways of living life with ease, abundance, simplicity and fun.
We need help with building - garden creation, weeding, planting, tree care, harvesting, planting trees, composting and general property care and a little child care some times.
Your host Carol (Filipina) with our little Kyra who is nearly seven years old right now. My partner is at the farm also along with three farm staff.
Looking forward to seeing you very soon :)
Carol and Little Kyra
Accommodation wise we have a large self-contained guest space at the Happy House which accommodates 5 - 7 people (normally max is 6) in a large shared room with breakout-space, kitchen and dinning area - see photos below -- the whole space (2 large rooms - self contained) is for guests.
We strongly suggest you bring the following for your own comfort:
- Well fitting rubber boots (can be bought at the local market shop in Rosario for a small amount)
- Ruberised gloves (can be bought at the local market)
- Long socks to wear with your boots
- NATURAL insect repellant if U need it - CANNOT buy in this area ( we don't like DEET based ones seeing we are an organic farm :) ) - we don't use any repellants - not too many mosquitoes - none during the day only some at dusk and dawn
- Work clothes with long sleeves to protect you from the sun (can be bought cheap second hand at the local market)
- Your own sunscreen - we don't use it so non is available here - it's also hard to find it locally - the locals don't use it!
- Rechargeable torch seeing we live in an un-lit area
We are one hour from Baguio City and an easy 6hr bus ride from Manila (one bus) - express buses run a few times a day and only take 3 1/2 hrs (more expensive).
Normal aircon Buses run through the local town (Rosario) from Manila every 30 mins 24hrs a day. We can arrange a pickup from Rosario for you with a local guy on his tricycle - you sort out charge direct to him. He has a fixed rate.
We can accept 5 - 6 people at a time depending on the season but we can cater for groups of up to 12 people.
Come and be with us super soon :)
