Rural Homestay, We are looking for people who would like to live at our place for free in exchange for 3 or 4 hours work per day.

we have 1-2 bedrooms available

work or chores, .... that you could expect to choose from ..... currently include: WEEDING!! Feeding the sheep' keeping the kitchen and house tidy, cleaning , bringing in firewood for the house fire, chopping firewood, pruning fruit trees, weeding gardens, watering plants, mowing the lawn, blowing leaves away with the blower around the house, cooking. helping Michael with what ever project he has on the go at the moment.

Our house is 7 km from the nearest town and 35 km from Christchurch City, over 7 km to the nearest bus stop... a car would be handy...

We do have wifi and around 2MB/s download speeds
"20 G cap"

Cellphone reception is good poor,

Please note we only accept applications via email, through this website, thank you.

We experience hardly any earthquakes here, so not much excitement on that front :-/

By the way - if you're planning to HelpX in NZ but only have a visitor's ("Tourist") visa, then when you arrive at customs, please don't mention "woofing" or "HelpXing" to customs officials, cos as far as their narrow little minds go - (unlike in Australia) that still means work, and they may not let you in, "To make an example" of you.

Very trite (small minded) and very sad, not to mention embarrassing, for the greater NZ public.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE (OR DON'T NEED) ONWARD TICKETS ALREADY, OUT OF NEW ZEALAND, as otherwise you may be asked to purchase them (at great cost) before you board the plane here.

If you make it through all that - have a great time here anyway! :-D

If you need we can meet you at the airport.

useful links:

PLEASE if you are going to buy/drive a car here (or anywhere) get at least third party insurance for it. Usually less that $200, but it could literally save you thousands of dollars. No one is always a perfect driver, accidents happen!
