Open for 2017!

We welcome you to live in a permaculture style edible forest garden and learn about our way of living. Ducks, geese and chickens free range in the fruit and nut orchards only 20 minutes from Hobart. We have a lovely one year old boy who loves meeting new people :)

We love meeting people from other countries and sharing different languages and cultures together. We are a non-smoking premises and (even though we're not vegetarian) can easily accommodate gluten free, vegan and vegetarian diets .

Sometimes in our spare time we go sailing, kayaking, bushwalking and swimming. We also have a permaculture project on Bruny Island and may travel there as part of the experience. Wallabies and other wild animals come and visit us. If we're lucky we will find a platypus too.

Work is varied and hopefully fun... It can include gardening, preserving, feeding and caring for animals, harvesting, pruning, washing buckets, and many other things. Including childcare if people are comfortable! If there is something that you are particularly good at, let us know and we can probably accommodate.

You may be expected to have responsibility for jobs such as feeding the birds and watering the garden. We expect a high degree of autonomy or independence.
It's ok if you have a lot to learn! We also ask that you have your own travel insurance.

Accommodation: Inside our "Helpx cottage". Comfortable beds and linen provided.

Internet access? Yes!

Food: Gluten free organic food directly from the garden fresh and preserved or from our local food co-op. We eat a healthy simple diet and encourage people to cook, especially if you are someone who likes to.
