About us:

We live on a small 5 acre lifestyle block, 48 km South of Auckland CBD, that we share with a mad Bengal cat (Head of Pest Control), a Sydney Silkie dog (Head of Security), one horse, four hens (egg machines) and a rooster!

We don`t have children living at home so the help needed is mainly outdoors. With the help of some fabulous helpx helpers we have established the kitchen gardens and we`re now working on general gardens and landscaping so help with this would be greatly appreciated. Help is also needed with all the other tasks that need doing on a lifestyle block such as lawn mowing, planting, mulching, grubbing thistles, paddock weeds and brush-cutting (strimming/weed-eating).

We can only host helpers for short stays of up to a week, and would prefer mature, practical-minded people with a few years life experience, that can work independently. None of the jobs are difficult but do require a reasonable level of fitness. Non-smokers only please.

A very comfortable room with your own bathroom is offered in exchange for 4 hours work per person each day, however we can be flexible with this, ie work a full day for a day off to go sight-seeing.

Breakfast and lunch is `help yourself`, with food provided. Evening meals will be cooked for you, but if you enjoy cooking we are always happy for you to cook and share with us some of your favourite dishes. We’re happy to accommodate vegetarians but please advise of any dietary requirements when you first inquire.

Bombay is a quiet rural village and our nearest town is Pukekohe which is a 15 minute drive away, so having your own car is an advantage, but is not necessary. Auckland is easily accessible via trains/buses from Pukekohe or Bombay and we`re happy provide lifts into Pukekohe when possible.

If you have a vehicle, local attractions include waterfalls, bush walking/hiking, glow worm caves, Miranda Hot Pools, beaches and a lighthouse with fabulous views.

As we are rural, our internet options are limited and we don`t have wired broadband so wifi is NOT available. BUT we have excellent cellphone coverage if you have mobile data on your own phone. Pukekohe has free wifi hotspots, as does the Library.

We look forward to hearing from you and sharing our little piece of paradise!
