Every year, men and women from all over, join in the commotion and comradery of what we call Ecstatic Building;
Spirit Horse’s unique drive to create sacred architecture which anyone can do.

Ecstatic because of the exhilaration collectively felt when we are fully engaged in the “common work of the tribe” and fully giving rein to our innate, unbridled, natural creativity.

Our instinct is to create, and make in beauty. And making home, or housing for the holy, is natural and refreshingly fulfilling. To be able to build houses, temples, born of this natural unrestricted intelligence in the old way, is a freedom rarely experienced these days.

Here is your invite to join the Spirit Horse Tribe for the month of May, in sacred architecture. Banging nails, candle lit dinners, happy banter and companionship in a spectacular welsh valley, adorned with waterfalls; radiant with the exuberance of May, in the creation of earthy, wild architecture and a new culture.

“Our buildings are a human ornament on the face of the wild forest we prayed for.”

The work is exuberant and spontaneously allowed to flow. And fast! Things happen! Something rises from our dream. Not knowing what will eventually be housed, the empty space beckons. A new way is found with ancient instinctual, beckoning roots.

Last year we spent days working, and nights dreaming into what we now call “The Red Temple”. A renovation of an old roundhouse from many moons ago about which we had fresh dreams.

Then; AT MIDNGHT before the August Enlightment Intensive, we finished the interior, exhausted and joyful, weary but triumphant, just in time to house the 40 people who showed up for five days of deep self inquiry! And after that, many more rituals and gatherings fell into our calendar, for this space became the perfect sanctuary. The mystery of this kind of creativity continues.

This summer we will finish the roof in lovely larch shingles, the most ancient of European roofs, milled from local forest.

We welcome you to join us, be it scrambling on the roof with a hammer at your belt, shifting materials up the leafy mountain paths, creating the trays of cakes to keep the crew going at tea break or making extravagant candle lit dinners! With your own unique, wild and unknown personal contribution.

Cost and contribution:

If your own unique personal contribution happens to be playing guitar and sun bathing and helping out for the odd half hour then so be it, great! But you can contribute £25 pounds a day to cover food.

At the other extreme if you are a skilled and committed carpenter, cook or experienced helper, and you want to bring things to completion five days per week from 11am til sunset, we will look after you. This is a 10 day minimum commitment.

Whether experienced or new, you will learn an anciently rooted, juicy Spirt horse construction methods. You can learn how to build your own house for £3000! We need heroes who want to be out in the land in May and in the company of Master Carpenter Shivam O’Brien.

We will begin with our tools on our backs, ready to fall in love again with Mother Earth, on the 1st of May. If you wish to join us, for a wild and wonderful start to your Summer, email us now.

Contact Shivam: [email protected]

We also need a kitchen crew to feed the folks who are building!

Kitchen rock n roll creating your own wild recipes! Feeding the workers, taking them tea and snacks, to enliven the tribe when the sun shines or the rain comes.

The whole village can buzz like a hive, alive with creativity, often with play time and music at night.

A few words from Shivam:
Our instinct is to create with an extravagance of beauty that is far removed from the modern mediocrity. We can collectively find the lost root, where we unconsciously sold out on our ancient authentic inheritance: to live beautifully. And we can live beautifully. It is natural.

The ecstasy we speak of is felt in the body. You are invited to this feast of creativity, it moves mysteriously, shoulder to shoulder, side by side, and pulls together with one song, those on the topmost pole of the roundhouse roof, all the way down, through the leaves and swirling streams, to those stirring the spices into the cauldron of the tribe for supper. Building, teaching, cooking, loving, held in the arms of a collective embrace that welcomes the perfume of the ancient campfire, the tribal smoke, the cheerful banter, the night stars, and our own shared fragment of eternity.

Our summer camp community is exploring traditional and anciently rooted ways of being, living and working together. A superb wild valley dedicated to wild forest and a village of yurts, tipis and celtic roundhouses for being together, dreaming, rituals, tribal living, storytelling and spiritual retreat.

Help is needed building beautiful celtic roundhouses and cooking and living without mod cons in the welsh mountains during our summer season May 1st to June 1st 2020. Contact us now to join! This is an invite to people who want to immerse in an amazing project and be part of a big vision, making an authentic contribution to a sacred and sustainable way of life.
