We have a couple of acres in the lovely Normandy countryside with various animals, two donkeys, a poly-tunnel and a dilapidated old cob barn. I am a carpenter by trade and this spring / summer I want to start to restore the barn. There is also lots of gardening to be done, both outside and in the poly-tunnel, as well other maintenance jobs inside and outside. In exchange for 3- 4 hours of work a day (for around 5 days per week) on the barn or in the garden we offer a basic, little single room house with small kitchen and broad band access, (there is a shower and basin upstairs but only an outside loo – although there is a ‘real’ loo provided in the main house about 100metres away). Accommodation is idea for a couple or a single person. A light lunch and a main (vegetarian) meal will be provided on working days, the rest of the time it will be more-or-less self-catering, with some meals together .
We both run business' from home: Peter as a surveyor and Sarah in vegetarian catering.
Our house is just on the Cotentin Peninsula – half way between Caen and Granville. Very easy for the D-Day beaches, Bayeux, Caen and of course le Mont St Michael. There is also the A.J.Hackett bungee jump (60metres)!!
A great base to start your exploration of the area. Own transport is not essential but would help if you wanted to tour around.
