Now looking for help in the Autumn to put the garden to bed.No availability over the summer but may update later.

Ard Daraich has two self catering units and a plantsmans garden that is open to the public.
We need help with the garden especially in the spring and autumn. We also appreciate help with the changeovers in the holiday houses and have a large wild garden, open to the public with small plantsmans nursery, free-range hens, small vegetable patch and poly tunnel full of herbs and salads.

Help is needed with all this and in our "down to earth" lifestyle there is never a quiet moment! Whether firewood collection, foraging for mushrooms, shell fish or seaweed, collecting eggs from our rare breed flock of hens or picking soft fruit in season, there is always a job to be done!

We are an artistic couple who love people and offer hospitality to a high standard. Our volunteers will need to enjoy a changing environment with mixed demands in a stunning part of the world. Outdoor work is part of our life.

Ard Daraich Hill Garden is open to the public with a notable collection of ericaceous plants in a "Marginal Garden". Help is needed with its development and maintenance. The garden is run along organic lines with minimum intervention and although not a conventional permaculture practice, it is nearly the same thing. The longer we practice this method, the richer the flora becomes. The small plantsmanís nursery needs help with composting, potting, propagation and labeling. We have two self catering units so domestic work is part of our lifestyle and an ability to mix in and do varying tasks from bed making, laundry and cleaning to path making, log chopping and digging would make a successful cultural exchange. We have an international clientele and so good social skills would make your visit much more fun.

Because of the remote location you will have access to a beautiful part of the world, by the sea, next to a river and a glen and with walks into unspoilt country, straight from the door. There is a large beach at the end of the lane on the shores of Loch Linnhe. We are happy to give lifts to the Corran Ferry for access to The Nevis Range and Glencoe and also the direct bus connection to Glasgow. The help involves outdoor work and so you will need to be fit and healthy. Sharing of domestic tasks is essential to the happy running of the household.

Any successful volunteer must be happy for us all to review the arrangement after two weeks to see that their skills fit into our working lives as we are looking for visits of a month at a time from people who are keen to learn and fit in. This gives an opportunity to agree if the arrangement is not working for both sides.
We are looking for people around 30 + who have had some experience of this sort of work. Reference and photos necessary.
