We are a small organic farm. Chinese date (jujube)is our major product in summer, chrysanthemum and roselle are in winter. One part of jujube grows in green house. We also have a simple home-made studio which we make many seasonal fruit jams, juice and vinegar etc.
Since 2015, we have evoked food education activities and historic house protection in our valley.

Volunteers will be hosted at our rental house, which is in our old street houses. We currently have two comfortable rooms to host about 4-6 persons. But there is no air-conditioner in summer, except fans. Cold breeze usually comes in the morning and evening from Shiba Mount. Our partner, Emily Chen will help take care of all volunteers. The house also have young farmers live together.

Our dogs, 4 Border collie and hybrid black dogs are our precious farm mates. Oh, we have a new resident, a black cat. We also have a folk of chickens and ducks living in the farm. We don't eat our poultry because they are our kids.

Volunteer duties include planting drop, compose-making, weed-cutting, fruit and flower harvest, home-made product making and perhaps help sell on the weekend to farms' market in Taipei or Taichung city.
In order to experience our seasonal scenery and farming need, we prefer your stay at least 10 days long. You may consider our farm activities to fit your travel plan by seasons:
Spring (Feb-Apr):vegetable planting and mulberry harvest, regular farm task such as weed removal, compose making, veg planting. fruit jam or cider making. We rarely host volunteer during Chinese New Year.
Summer (May-Aug):jujube care and harvest, also help fruit jam or juice making. Weekend farmer market assistance. We grow chrysanthemum around June.
Fall (Sept-Oct):dried jujube classify and package, roselle harvest, help fruit jam or juice making. Weekend farmer market assistance.
Winter (Nov-Jan):taro, chrysanthemum flower and roselle harvest, help fruit jam or juice making. Weekend farmer market assistance.

We request daily working hours about 4-8 hours, depends on busy harvest season or planting timing. If you don't mind to work exceed 4 hours per day some time. We sincerely appreciate your help. In summer, due to the hot weather, sometime we start to work at 5:30 am before breakfast to prevent the hot weather.

Since 2017, we are aware of protecting local historic houses in old street is essential. So we are composed of a small group of new farmers and youth. We want to activate those buildings to be cultural innovation base. Hand-made paper or hand-dyed cloth or another other possibility to maintain the core value of agriculture is our goal.

So, any enthusiastic or skilly volunteers are welcome to help us to do the meaningful work here.

We take care lunch at our farm, prepare foods for breakfast and dinner at your host kitchen as well. Volunteers can share and enjoy international cooks for each other.

Usually, volunteers take 1-2 days off a week, depends on busy harvest or not. We love to have international volunteers' help, however, farming work is serious to be done. Please consider the need. Thanks
