Small plant nursery and tropical fruit farm with a tissue culture laboratory producing cloned orchids to eventually create an orchid cut flower farm. Guest helper(s) will have their own room and share meals with the family. If you are interested, you will learn all aspects of plant propagation, seed raising, cutting preparation, grafting and marcotting. I am a qualified horticulturalist and keen to pass on my knowledge. If your interests extend to lab work, helpers will also be taught the basics of plant tissue culture, medium preparation and sterile room subculture techniques.
As I age, I am unable to do some of the heavier tasks involved in my industry. Your help will be a blessing. In return I will do all I can to make your stay an enjoyable experience and hopefully teach you skills that will last your lifetime.
Currently I only have one spare bedroom, but hope to be able to provide caravan accommodation on the property in the not too distant future.
I can only accept non-smokers, especially if you want to do lab work.
My home is NOT a mansion, rather it is a bush 'donga', but it is airy and open.
There is no close public transport, but it is no difficulty to take helpers into nearby Palmerston, where there is a bus exchange, shopping centres and so on.
