Hi, we have two properties here in upstate NY about 10 minutes apart. One focuses on free range heritage laying hens and the other on vegetable production. Both properties have fruit and nut trees and are using permaculture practices with more design and implementation to be done in the future.

Tim, the farm manager lives at one property, and the owner lives at the other property. There is accommodation at both places.

We are looking for 2 volunteers during peek growing season and one or 2 in the winter. Both volunteers will work at both properties under guidance of the farm manager who loves teaching and sharing, but will probably focus on one property wrt to their work.

We ask for 25hrs of work per week in exchange for a private room and all organic board from a local co-op, farms, and our garden. You will eat very well here and be taken care of.

Preference will be given to those guests who have more experience (in agriculture, gardens, building, nature) and who can stay for longer periods of time. We are ideally looking for a guest who can stay for a whole season or a whole year. Accepting inquiries ASAP.

Current projects include: tending a wide variety of young and mature fruit/nut trees bushes and berries, veggie garden maintenance, crop & seed harvest and storage, native tree nursery, Falling Water property has trees and cover crops planted on contour in berms and swales for maximum water retention. Both properties have rain water catchment systems, PV electric, composting, raised beds, companion planting, new honey bees! Sky Hill has a large flock of beautiful and well provided for hens of many different breeds. Falling Water has a lovely waterfall in a small hemlock gorge that is audible from the house. The house at falling water is passive solar.

We plan on planting and enlarging a food forest next year, as well as expanding the veggie garden and creating an area to grow grain.

Sharon Springs has some nice shops and restaurants and Cobleskill has small college. There is hiking, fishing, boating, caving, and plenty of cultural and historical sites in the area.

We look forward to meeting people from all over and sharing this life with them.
