During the cooler months (November to March) it is time to tidy and freshen up the farmhouse and garden ready for the next year. We need a helper or helpers with practical DIY skills interested in helping with Wood work / Gardening / Wall building, painting and general maintenance to carry out these tasks.

Nestled beneath the craggy cliffs of an ancient fossil reef, are the villages and hamlets of Cariatiz. Our restored Cortijo is situated in the tiny, sleepy hamlet that is Los Josefos. Here our neighbours still bake bread in the traditional domed bread oven and farm almonds like generations before them.

Los Josefos is a short walk from the white painted village square of Los Alias. There you will find a small geological museum, Church and a tiny village school.

The square also serves as the school playground, meeting place and venue of the village's three day fiesta at the end of August.

Set amongst tranquil almond, olive, orange and lemon trees one of the first things you will notice is the clearness of the air. Almost the only sounds that can be heard are those of the bird song and goats bells.

The house itself is over 150 years old and has been lovingly restored to a high standard. Charming and comfortable, all the rooms have cosy, quaint farmhouse individuality. The majority still retain their low beamed ceilings, yet have a modern en-suite or adjacent shower and toilet. For winter evenings a welcoming log fire in our comfortable lounge is also available for all our guests.
