We are a Dutch family running a certified biodynamic dairy farm in the Mayenne region. We enjoy our simple lifestyle, working with the nature, tending to the the cows, meeting new people and raising our family here.
Apart from the farming aspect, we also have a cheesery where we make our own gouda, a shoppe where we sell locally made bio products (our cheese, milk, local wine, vegetables, bread, etc), and a small campground which runs from May to September. During the summer we are hosting a 10 day art festival, where participants work on the farm and connect with nature and then collaborate on something creative together.
We have 4 children, two in their early teens and two in their twenties (the older ones live here from time to time), two workers coming during the week to make cheese, and lots of animals! 60 cows, some sheep, a horse, peacock, chickens. Plus a garden, vegetable and herb, and some fruit trees to take care of.
We can host you during spring and summer, generally 1-2 volunteers at a time during? weeks. There is always something to do here, building, farm or otherwise. We love our peaceful farm land and we hope you will enjoy it also.

*Lots of farm-y things...weeding, planting, harvesting, making fences, milking the cows, taking care of the animals, processing fruit and vegetables into jam, chutney, pickling, pruning trees, and help in the kitchen, cooking and cleaning the house a bit.
*We would like to make some renovations to the house, building a veranda and moving things around a bit, if anyone has experience with this.
*We have some very old stone buildings on the property that we need restoring. One in particular would become a larger shoppe for local goods and a cafe/restaurant. For this we first need a roofer to finish rebuilding!

Hours and accomodation: You will stay in a room in the house or in a tent in our camping area (outdoor shower and WC included). Work is in the morning and afternoons free.

In the area:
Mostly countryside and farmland, there are a few nice farms to visit. Nearby are Saint Suzanne, a medieval village, and Jublins, a Roman city. It is 90 minutes to the sea (Mt Saint Michele) and 2 1/2 hours to Paris.
How to get here:
By train from anywhere in France check the website of the SNCF. The nearest train station is Laval (GARE). From Laval Gare you can take bus line 9 to Bazougers. It costs 2.
By bus you can check out the website of Eurolines. The closest cities to Bazougers you can get off are Angers, Rennes, Nantes and Paris. From there you have to take a train or a bus to Laval.
